Storybook Sunset Cottage on White Lake. Excellent Location. Dock & Kayaks.

The cottage is a charmer with its Swedish roots, yet it’s been updated functionally with a modern bath, air conditioning, and has a stocked kitchen. The backyard patio is a favorite place to relax and has a hammock, Weber Spirit grill, and a chimenea.

There are outstanding views of beautiful White Lake from the dinette’s picture window, both bedrooms, the living room, and especially the screened in porch.
** New for 2025 - Full sized washer and dryer!

The dock and 2 kayaks are across S. Shore Dr. (2 lane).
Several places nearby rent boats to fit your needs.
Duneshore Boating will even drop off and pick up right at the cottage
(tubes and stand up paddle boards as well).
Or just bring your own! The boat launch is 1 min. away (at White Lake Dr.)
Ask for recommendations upon booking.

Note: Pontoons that are rented are not allowed to go from White Lake out to Lake MI. If you want to explore Lake MI in a rented boat - only speedboats &
deck boats like from 3rd Coast Rentals are allowed.

Our proximity to everything is a stand out feature.

The cottage is just 10 minutes from Hwy. 31 and also from the charming sister towns of Whitehall & Montague.

Montague Foods has a large selection of high quality groceries, beer, and wine.
Check out the World’s Largest Weathervane before going in!
Also take advantage of the Farmers Market (and Artisan Market)
across the street on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

There are many interesting shops and restaurants in the White Lake area
to check out such as Montague’s classic Dog ‘n Suds & Whitehall’s Fetch Brewing.
Whitelake.org is a great resource for the area attractions and the Calendar of Events like the Cruz’In Classic Car Show
and those happening at the outdoor music pavilion.
They have a downloadable Visitor’s Guide.

Be sure to stop by WaterDog Outfitters (Whitehall) - a superb outdoor recreation store that also provides bike & kayak rentals.
Both Armstrong’s (Whitehall) and Johnson’s (Montague) can assist with fishing gear and advice.

Our family had the best time at Storybook Sunset Cottage. It was very clean and inviting. It is exactly what they advertise. Our family loves the feel of a simple cottage on the lake and this was it. It has everything you need to stay for days. We loved it.

Cozy!
The house is exactly as described, it is very cute and cozy. Our stay was very comfortable, the house was nicely equipped for our stay with lots of towels, extra blankets, and kitchen supplies. We were really there for the outdoor space and it didn’t disappoint, nice set up and great views, loved being right on the lake. The host is friendly and communicative, would book with them again.

Slice of heaven on White Lake!
We had a wonderful family stay (5 adults) coming back to Lake Michigan summers! The cottage was perfect - spacious enough and every detail cared for (kayaks, well-appointed kitchen, very clean, great beds and linens, etc.). Short drive to the lakeshore pier and wonderful walking/eating in the towns of Montague and Whitehall. Bike trail is great too! We will be back!!

Perfect headquarters for family
We had a wonderful stay on White Lake, in town for a sailing regatta. We rented another home nearby and this place was the perfect meeting spot for our family and friends who were joining us on the water. Being on the lake and having the dock was great as we brought our motorboat to spectate the races. It was a special family reunion so we enjoyed using the outdoor patio space to gather and catch up! We so appreciate the communication before during and after the trip as well as some local recommendations! Would definitely recommend staying at this lovely cottage with beautiful view of white lake!

Great sunset views!
Cozy retro cottage. Watch the sunset across lake white from the screened in porch. Just the right distance from town. Great for for a small girlfriends weekend. Plenty of kitchen ware but if you like to cook you might bring your own knives. Nice bedding and plenty of towels, including beach towels. Beds kinda soft for my back though.

cozy fun family vacation!
We really enjoyed our little vacation at the cottage! It’s small, but has everything you need. The lake view is beautiful and the yard is set up for entertainment! The home is very private and cozy, and it’s located near many kid/ family friendly activities. We went to Michigan adventure, the beach, and rented a boat from KAC. The host was very kind, stayed in touch leading up to the trip and checked in during our stay.

Great cottage on the lake
My husband and I with our adult kids stayed at the cottage over the 4th primarily because of the close proximity to my brother-in-law's cottage. We were pleased to find the cottage so cute and well equipped for our needs! The patio in the back yard with a fireplace/chiminea, hammock and plenty of seating area was an unexpected pleasure. We're extremely pleased with our decision to stay at the cottage!

Rough weather, but great cottage!
This was our first vacation as a family of 3, and unfortunately our very first night we experienced a major storm that felled trees/power poles/boats in every direction. The power went out and stayed out our entire week. It was extremely unfortunate, a little scary, and a major bummer as we were not able to do everything we had planned. But, the cottage was adorable, clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. We were able to fish and swim in the lake, and visit the cottage to make dinner on the grill outside. If it weren't for the storm, this would have been an amazing week. Communication with the host was outstanding. She did everything she could to enhance our stay and create the best experience for us. We would love to return and try again.

Excellent communication
Had a few questions and LuAnn was always a great help right down to finding us help with our truck. Lovely location only downside was having to cross the street to get to the lake… excellent waterpark/park down the road to hang out.

September Sunset
We stayed at the Sunset Cottage for a week in September and had a wonderful time. The cottage is small, but comfortable, and the beds are especially nice. We loved the sunsets, absolutely gorgeous and the fire pit in the front across from the lake provided a lovely bonfire for s’mores. The grocery store was close, and we cooked several meals with the well equipped kitchen. LuAnn recommended Duneshore boating for a rental pontoon, and we had a nice pier to dock it for the week. Good for cruising the lake and fishing. LuAnn was a wonderful host and went over and above to make our stay memorable! Thank you so much! Highly recommend!

The property was great - clean, functional, and well stocked for all of our needs. There is a nice unobstructed view of White Lake from the front sun room. We stayed while kayaking the White River and running the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in our Jeep. There are a couple of breweries near by to unwind and pick out your dinner destination.

We came here for a mini honeymoon and it was perfect! The home is very cozy and comfortable. The kayaks and fire pit were great amenities, and LuAnn was super communicative. I highly recommend this place!

Family weekend getaway
Our family of four stayed in Sunset Cottage for four nights. We found the cottage to be cozy, clean, and full of charm and amenities. The location was perfectly suited for enjoying Whitehall and Montague and also for taking day trips. We would definitely stay here again!!

Exactly what we needed
We came from out of town to visit relatives located in the area. From the minute we booked this cottage, the property owner was in constant communication and even helped us rent a pontoon boat. At one point we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house and she was there within minutes. The cottage was surprisingly spacious. The two beds were super comfy and even the futon was perfect for the kids. Kitchen was larger than expected and it was stocked with anything we needed to cook with. The back yard had a new weber grill and it was very quaint and private. We will definitely book this place again.

Lovely cottage
Wonderful little cottage. Nice quiet neighborhood with beautiful views of White Lake. Also close to lots of fun things to do and parks to explore. Our teenagers spent tons of time across the street on the dock fishing and in the kayaks provided on the lake. The owner was very responsive and helpful. She made everything so easy for us. Thanks for a very nice vacation!
