Great location for central Winchester. The parking situation is awful, we stayed 6 nights, and were in and out whilst staying and spent what seemed like ages driving around the one way system going from one car park to another trying to find space (each time you tried either the top or bottom car park it was another loop around the whole of the city centre!) It would be helpful if residents could secure a given space for the duration of the stay. The hotel is comfortable (note there is no lift in the old building, so the top floor was up multiple stairs). The staff were not the friendliest (staying over Christmas and not a single Happy Christmas!) We would stay again, so nothing stated here outweighs the convenience of the location.

Comfortable, excellent value hotel in the centre of town... One small niggle the radiator in our room clanked every half hour or so, which disturbed our sleep somewhat.

Great Overnight Experience
We had a good experience here, the hotel id ideally placed for the city centre, just managed to get the last parking space, although £15 for residents seems a bit steep. Staff were pleasant and helpful and the room was very quiet and comfortable.

Receptionist walked off to take a personal phone call halfway through checkin. We’d booked a superior double but were given a garden view room. They corrected the room but claimed it to be Hotels.com’s error. The room, in the end, was ok. Old and in need of redecoration. The bed was large and comfortable. Breakfast was decent, plenty of choice. Parking is extra even for guests.

Royal Hotel:
Wasn’t given the room online that I booked for a special occasion was given a really below average room with fruit flys flying around the bathroom and bedroom and peeling paint on the bath walls. We were given the wrong food that we ordered and found it dissatisfying and disappointing. I think the advertising is misleading we asked for a room in the manor and paid for it to be called up a few days later with the manor having renovations for leaks. Very misleading:
