My college friends and I do an annual summer trip to catch up and get some time together, and this year we stayed at Martha and Scott's Blue Heron Cottage on Lake Ontario near Sodus Point. The location was beautiful, with water views and access, a balcony and a porch on both the front and back of the house.
There wasn't a set check-in time, and our three groups all arrived at separate times with Martha being extremely accommodating and friendly in picking up and dropping off all of us. The directions that we received prior to getting to the pick up and parking location were also very helpful and easy to follow.
The cottage itself was perfect for what we were looking for: a space with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and outdoor space where we could all hang out, and still have private spaces.
Martha was also great for the entire duration of our stay! She was very communicative, and assisted us when our motorboat stopped working, going so far as to lend us her own for our long weekend! We can't say enough good things about Martha.
There were a few things that were not included in the listing that we discovered upon arriving:
No plates, bowls, cups, or cutlery in the kitchen, though plenty of cooking vessels.
The stove and coffee pot were both non-working, though the Keurig worked just great when we purchased K-Cups.
The beach out back is mostly rocks, so bring water shoes for easier walking.
Be sure to bring extra trash bags and paper towels.
The outdoor grill worked great, and the house came with a huge supply of filtered water jugs (though there's nothing wrong with the lake water, it does have that sulphur-y smell, and the water pressure is low). Two kayaks and a canoe, two fire pits, and a back patio were enjoyed greatly by us, as well as the ease of access to the mainland and the dockside restaurants and bars that we could pull up to right on the motorboat that was provided.
Thank you again Martha, and the Blue Heron, for making our weekend so enjoyable!
