About this property

B&B on a ship

The B&B is a bedroom with a 200x160 queensize bed and a bathroom on an old ship. And there is a water cooker to make coffee or tea. It's very suitable for a couple.
The ship is over a hundred years old and has been recently renovated.
The Morgen Ster is an iron ship, seven minutes walk from the Central Station. Although it's in the heart of the centre, the location has the feel of the country side. A large part of the city is easy to reach on foot. Within ten minutes one can walk to the Central Station, The Dam Square, The Waterloo Square, The Portugese synagoge, the red light district, the Nieuwmarkt, The Rembrandt house.

The front door has a lock with a code. Check in time is 3 pm or later, check out time is 11 am.

Although it's called a Bed and Breakfast, no breakfast is being served. All in all it's quite small, but very cute and comfortable.

Please be aware that the neighbours walk over the roof of the B&B on the way to their homes. It's part of living on a ship in the centre of Amsterdam.

Elderly guests must be aware that you can't walk around the bed. Also you have to step up the ship and there is a small stairway you have to descent.

The B&B is not suitable for pets.
Our customers tell us they enjoy this bed & breakfast's walkable location. During your stay, you're just a quick walk from St. Nicholas Church.
  • Free WiFi
  • Just a 5-minute drive from Anne Frank House and a few minutes from Passenger Terminal Amsterdam
B&B on a ship offers its guests a garden. The front desk is open around the clock.

This Amsterdam bed & breakfast is smoke free.

Cute little space
This is a cute little space in a perfect location, but be aware it is a very small unit. The host is very nice and there to help with anything you need. You can walk to anywhere in the canal district easily.

I’m on a boat!
Everything was awesome! We stayed near the museums on our first few nights in Amsterdam, the on the boat for a couple nights on our return. It was great to book end the city to get a bit different experience. Everything works great including the shower. A good shower was very hit, or miss in our European tour. Communication was easy every step of the way. We really enjoyed something a little different this time around. Thanks!!

Maarten, the host, is incredibly responsive and attentive. His quick replies to queries make the experience seamless. Accommodation: The rooms on this charming old ship are cosy and clean. Imagine waking up to the gentle sway of the water! The ship has been recently renovated, preserving its historic charm. Location: The B&B is strategically situated—not amidst the madness, but close enough to escape into the vibrant city. Although it’s called a Bed and Breakfast, no breakfast is served. But fear not—the nearby cafes and bakeries offer delightful morning treats. Just be aware that neighbors occasionally walk over the roof of the B&B on their way home—it’s all part of the ship-living experience! A quintessential Amsterdam experience for any traveller.

Property was different (it us a boat) But is comes with limitations. I.e. place for cases. No wardrobe. Pictures are accurate. Maarten the host was very welcoming and left us alone during the stay. On departure we described a smell we experienced during our stay so he could be aware. Should not be described as B&B Refrigerator provided but take everything you might need with you. Only two cups and small spoons provided. Netflix worked well. Felt safe in the area but not wowed by the experience.

Great stay on the canal
Maarten’s boat on the canal was great. Unfortunately he wasn’t there when we went, however he had friends close to come help if we needed anything. Great and quick to communicate with. Place was very clean and had everything you’d need. Was a short walking distance to the city center and very close to the central train station.

Great room on a house boat! Complete with shower, fridge,TV with Netflix and a good sized bed. Although the boat was close to the centre, it was incredibly quiet and relaxing. Maarten provided us with clear instructions throughout. We would highly recommend.

A comfy place right by Amsterdam center
The listing was exactly as it was listed. A bed, a bathroom, and the comforts you need to keep you going as you experience Amsterdam (including a kettle and tea, appreciated after walking though the city). The host was very attentive and welcoming, which made our experience visiting Amsterdam that much more enjoyable. And its location near the city center let us see the sights and still come back to rest. Definitely would rent again.

Perfect One Night Stay
My husband and I wanted to stay somewhere different for our first time in Amsterdam and this houseboat did not disappoint. Marteen was a fantastic host and the place was a great walkable location to everything we wanted to see. We took the train from the airport and it was a quick walk from there. We highly recommend booking if you want a unique stay in an incredible city.

Live like a local
Quiet, comfortable and sweet location outside of desirable tourist area of Amsterdam. Easiest access to transportation, via train station (10 min walk) we used public transportation and walking throughout our time and our oasis on the water was a welcome retreat. Small refrigerator, tea kettle and two mugs/spoons, with instant coffee are the only available kitchen items, be prepared to treat it much like a hotel or studio apartment, in size and function. Plenty of space when good sleep and a centrally located spot are your priorities. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful place to return to every evening. Maarten was very accessible and kept in touch from reservation to follow up after check out. We hope to return to Amsterdam to spend more time on a boat!

Absolutely Perfect!
This property was ideal for the two of us. We travelled to Amsterdam by Eurostar and the boat was 12 minutes walk from the central station. The position of the boat allowed us to walk everywhere, nothing was too far. Our stay was only four nights so we made the most of the city and spent a limited amount of time on the boat, mainly overnight. Communication with our host Marteen was the best I have experienced on VRBO. His instructions were crystal clear and our stay was problem free. If you are planning to visit Amsterdam this is an ideal spot to explore from. Highly recommended!
