Hurricane Helene
Check in Thursday September 26 not knowing hurricane Helene was heading that way. Woke up to no power in hotel. Asked about staying additional days and was accommodated to do so. Later in the afternoon the sun came out and I attempted to leave Asheville without success. Went back to hotel and they would not let me stay even after staying the previous night. Ended up staying in my car Friday night in a grocery store parking lot. Not very accommodating of them after staying there Thursday night and having all my credit card information during this life threatening time in Asheville, NC.

I thought choosing a large worldwide chain for a hotel, to stay in for one night would be a safe choice. I was dead wrong! The entire hotel was dirty, unkept, and grimy, our room smelled rancid of mildew, and pets, even though we requested a pet-free room. I got up at midnight unable to sleep due to the rancid smells and woke up my small children and made the clerk move us rooms. Would never stay here or recommend this place to anyone. I should have walked out the second I saw how stayed and dingy the lobby furniture looked. That's your warning to run!

Really enjoyed the competency And friendliness of the staff from the front desk to housekeeping, they were all very friendly and helpful. A couple of helpful hints I believe that the showers should be equipped with bars inside to hold onto for your older customers as it can be very slippery inside the shower, particularly with the soft water and how the soap is hard to rinse off as a result. A second recommendation would be to extend the courtesy breakfast by an hour from 7 to 9 to 7 to 10. It may be a little more expensive, but it gives you a little bit of an edge over your competition and customers appreciate it.

Daytime front desk person incompetent and unhelpful. Reservation for two rooms was held under my credit card, but at check in my friend gave her credit card to person at desk to pay for her room. At checkout my card was billed for the two rooms, so the check in request was disregarded. Excuse at check out was my card was in the system. This is unacceptable.

The front desk employees are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast attendant/cook is kind to all of the guests and keeps the area clean. She makes sure that everybody has what they need and want. The facilities were clean and in a good location, we even found a wonderful restaurant within walking distance.

Inside was super clean! The night auditor disappeared to take a nap inside a vacant room and someone pulled the fire alarm. 3 fire engines showed up and they never found the front desk person. That was at 1 a.m. on our second night. The daytime staff was great though.
