Dupont Forest Trailside Cabin

This spacious log home sits on a wooded and private 5 acre lot next to Dupont State Forest. It is only a 1/2 mile to the closest trailhead in the 10,000+ acre recreation area. Dupont is famous for its incredible waterfalls, swimming holes, and 90 miles of trails. Whether on foot or mountain bike, you can explore Dupont's trails easily from this comfortable and cozy cabin home. After your day outside you can relax on one of the covered porches and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains that awaits you. The cabin does have wi-fi however, it is not dependable for streaming videos and working remotely. IF YOU ARE DEPENDENT ON WI-FI DURING YOUR STAY DO NOT RENT MY CABIN! I have the best wi-fi available in my area but it is extremely inconsistent due to the mountains.
This 3 bedroom home has newly remodeled kitchen and bathrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked with the essentials for cooking your meals while you stay. The cabin is great for large groups or families and can sleep up to 9, with 2 double beds, a king sized bed, and a double and single futon in the living room. And it is also perfect for a romantic getaway for 2, as it is comfortable and private.
The home sits directly in between the two mountain towns of Brevard and Hendersonville NC. Each just a 20 minute drive away. Asheville is a 45 minute drive, so close enough to enjoy as well. Brevard and Hendersonville both offer excellent dining options, galleries, shopping, and breweries in cute small town settings.
Pisgah National Forest is just 15 minutes away if you fee the urge to explore the trails outside of Dupont. And Pisgah boasts more beautiful waterfalls and amazing hiking/biking trails.
So if you want to get away for a vacation in the mountains of western North Carolina, this house will allow you to enjoy easy access to outdoor recreation. As well as put you very close to Asheville, Brevard, and Hendersonville if you want to get out on the town during your stay. You will also be a very very a short drive from many of the areas breweries- Oskar Blues (12 minutes), Sierra Nevada (35 minutes), and many more in Brevard, Hendersonville, and Asheville.
And just a 30 minute drive from Henderson County's wine country where you can taste locally made wines at these vineyards: Burntshirt, Point Lookout, St. Paul Mountain, Marked Tree.
There is a caretaker on the property who lives in a separate private apartment on the ground floor of the house. The caretaker is available to answer questions and enjoys meeting the guests, but otherwise he will respect the privacy of all house guests.
This holiday home's great location gets high marks from our customers. During your stay, you're just a quick walk from DuPont State Forest. The holiday home includes amenities such as a kitchen and 2 bathrooms.
  • Air-conditioned home with kitchen, washing machine and 2 bathrooms
  • Steps from DuPont State Forest and 8 minutes by car from French Broad River
Dupont Forest Trailside Cabin offers its guests barbecue grills and a garden. The front desk is open around the clock.

Almost perfect, for DuPont gravel and MTB base camp!
The location of this great cabin/house is so great for cycling & hiking at DuPont State Forest.(Also very convenient to Hendersonville, Brevard, Pisgah National Forest, Saluda and Mountain Bridges, with all the amazing scenery and outdoor activities those places offer.) The house and grounds are very comfortable, spacious, peaceful and interesting. Everything we needed was there. Kitchen's great. A couple of nice trails are right out the door, w/ a fun, challenging scavenger hunt that my grandsons (and their parents, (and I) all ) really enjoyed doing. Steve, the caretaker, downstairs is super friendly and helpful. The fire pit was a big hit, w/plenty of split wood available. (Don't forget marshmallows at Ingles!) I gave this 5 stars, but I do have a couple of reservations- BE VERY CAREFUL ON THE STAIRS! The bedrooms are all upstairs, and the stairwell has a unique"false" landing" with a wide 2nd-to-last step that can fool your brain into thinking you are at the bottom. I went down on that dang thing and had a pretty painful weekend, (even though I stayed upright on my bike all weekend.) Also, the wooden steps that lead out to the backyard fire pit area are more narrow than normal, so just be extra careful the first few times, turn on all the lights, (there are plenty.) Hopefully David, the owner, will remedy the steps/stair landing issues before someone gets expensive-hurt. Otherwise, this was a great place to stay and I would stay again!

Perfect Cabin, Perfect Location
Our stay was close to perfect and everything was made super convenient. Our friend group is all aged 20 or less and that was not a problem at all. We were welcomed by Steve when we got there and he was helpful the whole trip when we needed him. The cabin is on a farm and 5 minutes or less away from Dupont Forest so you will never get bored. This place has everything you want and need for a getaway in the mountains.

Perfect location, cozy cabin!
We had six adults and two little kids staying at the cabin for a long weekend, and it was the perfect location for all our mountain biking and hiking plans! The cabin felt larger than the pictures, and we had plenty of space for all of us. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for us all. The kids loved visiting the pigs and dogs at the farm down the road, riding bikes in the driveway, and exploring the short hiking trails on the property. I don't have words to express how wonderful Steve is - so kind, warm, and great with kids! We would love to return again someday!

We had a great time here. It was very close to DuPont Forest where we hiked to waterfalls. The kids enjoyed the adjacent trails from the cabin. The house was convenient to Brevard and Hendersonville. Firepit in backyard for marshmallow roasting, wood provided by host! House is a quaint old fashioned cabin with all the modern amenities.

Perfect mountain getaway
We enjoyed our vacation at this laid back log cabin. The decor is just what we wanted in a mountain home, rustic yet very comfortable. There were A/C conditioner units, in all bedrooms, which was ideal. The bathrooms were very clean, and the clawfoot tub was wonderful to bathe the two year old.. All VRBO descriptions were accurate. The view from the large front porch was actually better than described. We spent most of our time on this porch. The home is situated right behind an equestrian farm so we watched lots of horses running in the pastures. We were able to feed pigs and a ram. Mr. Steve the caretaker was so friendly and Knowledgeable of the property and the surrounding communities. We were a short drive to downtown Hendersonville and Brevard and Oskar Blues Brewery. We enjoyed walking the trails on the property as well. We are planning another trip here soon! Thank you for your hospitality.

Lovely Cabin
The location is really nice, secluded but not hard to get to. Really close to a couple great state park hiking locations and near enough to National parks and a couple cities to enjoy. The cabin is nice and secluded. Assuming you’re coming out here the lack of internet shouldn’t be an issue, it’s present but not usable for streaming or any moderate usage most of the time so just be prepared for that. There is a property caretaker who lives on the first floor. Steve was nice, answered any questions to start and helped us get started. Overall it was a good trip to a beautiful part of the country.

Phenomenal!!
We’re locals and did a short stay-cay to celebrate our 12yr wedding anniversary. As soon as we arrived we were kindly greeted by the caretaker Steve, who lives on the lower level; he is so kind and considerate. We loved getting to know him and his awesome pups!! They were SO friendly. My kids loved playing fetch with them. Steve gave us opportunities to feed the pigs on the farm, and the ram was super sweet and friendly!! The hikes were a great family activity and Steve always had all the resources for us to start a fire at night. I played the guitar while we enjoyed the country evening. We captured so many amazing pictures!! The cabin was immaculate, and my kids loved watching the dvds they had available. The kitchen was perfect for cooking & eating our family meals. The back porch was great to read while the kids ran around and burnt some energy. There was coffee made available, and condiments. There was plenty of room to sleep. The beds were like sleeping on clouds; literally some of the BEST sleep I’ve had in months!! My favorite was the bathroom. I was able to enjoy some peaceful mommy-time with a stellar soak in their amazing claw-tooth, vintage tub. That thing is a beauty; I can’t wait to have one of my own some day soon!! The neighbors are also very welcoming and kind. We met all of the horses and learned their names! Even their little doggy :) There were beautiful, vibrant flowers everywhere! The owner was great at communication! It was great to disconnect and reset.

A wonderful week in the woods
It was a lovely cabin tucked right into the woods, cozy and well-appointed inside and with an amazing porch that invited us out. We enjoyed the trails on the property for early morning strolls and for the kids to get out and adventure, and we were so happy to be able to enjoy DuPont trails without even having to get in the car. The hiking and biking and waterfalls nearby in DuPont and Pisgah made for great daytrips too. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
