Host is in NY. Has a "house manager" (the old guy/neighbor) and he would not contract with a Professional cleaning company. Even when VRBO called & emailed the day we were supposed,to checkin.
There were damp towels in the dryer, not enough linens for the 5 beds, and the home had definitely Not been cleaned since the last tenant with dog vacated the premised... leaving behind pills in the bathroom drawers and dog piss in MULTIPLE locations throughout the house. This house has NOT been professionally cleaned in a WHILE.
Then the house manager SAID the neighborhood is "not safe" and to let him know if we needed groceries, that he would go to store for us. There were Alcohol bottles out front of the house and the back deck was basically unusable due to buildup of debris (pine needles/leaves).
There is no key to the home, some guy showed up to give us the code to the front door & security system (basic start codes) that probably havent been changed, ever.
I never received a call from the host though she claims to have tried to call me multiple times. VRBO rep said he sent them an email to get the property professionaly cleaned, but i think he sent it only to my email instead, and there was no further contact from him or the host the 2nd day saying it had been cleaned and was ready.
We have been asking for a refund for over a month now. If she hasnt done so by now, this host is going to have to find a new local house management company and not rely on the cheapskate neighbor.
