We don't charge a security deposit! Where many hosts charge over $500, and where you as the guest risk them not returning your deposit – Austin Vacay remains guest-centric by charging a one-time, non-refundable fee (already included in your booking price) which provides up to $400 of coverage towards unintentional rental property damages (subject to plan terms and conditions). Scooters (Lime & Bird) as well as Lyft and Uber are the best ways to get around Austin, especially this close to everything. However, there are also a lot of public transportation options in this area (see CapMetro's website).
We have security cameras outside of our property at the entrances for added security and your peace of mind. We do not have any cameras inside, respecting our guests' privacy.
1) No smoking allowed (of any kind) ($350 fine)
2) No loud noises after 10 PM per city ordinance
3) No events or parties
4) Feel free to inquire about bringing your dogs along. We allow a maximum of two small dogs, each weighing 35 lbs or less. Unfortunately, cats are not permitted. There is a one-time pet cleaning fee of $85. Please inform us in advance if you plan to bring a dog so we can prepare the necessary cleaning supplies to eliminate allergens before the next guest arrives. If we do not receive notice at least 48 hours before your check-in, the fee will be $105. While staying with us, dogs must be crated when left alone, should not climb on furniture, and must not be left outside unattended. Owners are responsible for any damages caused.
5) The cleaning that you pay for is to clean the home prior to your stay. If you do not pick up after yourself sufficiently when you check out, you may be charged an additional cleaning fee - price depends on how long it takes to clean up after you. We don't expect you to scrub the home, but simply pick up your trash and put everything where you found it
6) Minimum age requirement is 25
7) If you do not check out on time (11AM) you will be charged an additional night
8) Please see the House Manual emailed to you a few days before your stay

Overall the property was nice and suited our needs for our visit to Austin. A few repairs around the place were need, but it didn't affect our stay.

Requested refund due to safety concerns and lack of cleanliness.
We booked to stay 2 nights but moved out to a hotel after the first night. There were a number of items that led us to this decision but most of all was the safety of our 4 year old, and cleanliness/bugs. In the few hours we spent in the unit we observed a number of bugs including a roach in bedroom, spider in living room, something in the bath tub and something on the kitchen ceiling. There is what appeared to be a blood stain on the shower curtain and stains on the bed sheets. There were chip crumbs on top of the fridge and 3 inch strips of what appeared to be carpet hanging out of the ceiling vent in the living room and also on the floor in front of the couch. The hand towel ring was literally balancing by an unsecured screw in the wall and came straight off the wall when first touched. The centre bed frame wooden supports in one of the rooms were all broken. The bedroom door handle was about to fall off and at least one of the power outlets in the living room was partly detached from the wall. All of these were safety concerns for our 4 y.o. The property description provided by the owner/manager didn't match reality because it stated that there was gated parking but that is not the case. The parking is completely open to the street. We sent an SMS to the property manager on the afternoon we decided to move out explaining why and asking for a refund but got no response. We followed up with an email early that evening and still had no response. The next day they responded advising they would not give us a refund because if we'd brought these items to their attention they would have sent over the handyman and cleaners. But we had advised them via text (as advised in property rules) the day before and had no response. We ended up requesting a refund from Vrbo, and after we'd provided photo evidence of our concerns, they worked with us to get that refund request fulfilled (thank you Megan).

Convenient Brentwood spot
The place was a great spot for a weekend trip to Austin. Beds were comfy, general areas were well kept and great for our small group to hang out in, and bathrooms worked perfectly. Access was easy with keypad. We had a couple of slight issues with housekeeping being present when we arrived after our check in time, and a locked bedroom closet light being left on for the duration of our stay. However the property manager was responsive and worked through these issues - they can happen to anyone! We would definitely stay here again. There is a great breakfast taco spot a block away, along with a few restaurants and coffee shops and bars all within walking distance!

The apartment is OK at best. There were light bulbs missing/burned out in kitchen and 2nd bathroom. Overall, apartment is “Frankensteined” mismatched. The second bedroom has no windows. I know in many areas it couldn’t be classified as a bedroom without having windows. The sink faucet in main bathroom was stiff and difficult to use. Both showers have soap dispensers that didn’t work had to remove tops to get soap/shampoo and conditioner. Across the street are two boarded up apartment complexes. We saw some vehicles parked there and were concerned about vehicle; but, didn’t have any problems with our vehicle. The neighbors were loud and walls are thin. This is the first time I’ve been disappointed by a VRBO rental.

We had a very nice stay at this cozy charmer. There are so many restaurants in walking distance which made meals simple and effortless. The property was clean and its always a plus to have a washer and dryer in unit when traveling with children. Communication with the renter was also quick and helpful. We would absolutely stay again.

Nice but needs improvement
Property was clean and beds, sofa and dining chairs were comfortable. Parking and access to the property was a breeze. The apartment itself has been completely redone and presents a clean, polished look. The place was quiet, so we were able to rest and enjoy a good night's sleep. Overall, the property is old, and the courtyard not as nice as depicted in the photos. Observations: Bedroom 1, the one with the ensuite, had only one night stand, no bedside lamp, and no ceiling fan. The bath tub in the adjoining bathroom has a relatively slick bottom and no grab handles anywhere and had only one towel hook and no towel bars. Wet towels had to be thrown over the shower curtain rod. The toilet paper holders in both bathrooms are improperly installed. They are located behind the user and when the toilet paper is pulled, the entire roll comes off the holder. Reversing them would fix this problem. The second bedroom had a table lamp and a table, but no additional furniture. Suitcases had to be unpacked on the bed or floor. No luggage stands in either bedroom. The living room has one table lamp with a 25W bulb which made reading while sitting on the sofa impossible. The pool appeared to be closed--heavy chain and lock on the gate. We didn't plan on swimming , but if we had, doing so was not possible. Coffee maker had not been serviced and the used filter and grounds removed. Kitchen faucet is loose, and the sink is the deepest I have ever seen in a kitchen--not a plus. There were four ice trays in the freezer. Two were empty and one had two dead gnats in it. One ice cube in another ice tray had a long, black hair frozen just below the surface. We rent VRBOs frequently. When there is no ice maker, the ice bucket and ice trays are empty and clean. Would we stay here again? Probably not.
