First time using a SYHA, which I was looking forward to, since it’s a charity. However, it’s not for us.
The room is basic, and the beds were comfortable for myself and my daughter, which is what we expected. But, we were cold & the central heating was off, along with me not realising that it was a shared toilet & shower.
At this point, I wasn’t fully discouraged, but after a fire alarm had us in the car park at 0100Hrs, which had us back inside quickly, but there was no head count or procedures followed. Then there’s other people who don’t give a dam how much noise they make, resulting in 4-5 hours sleep.
Having paid £7 more per night, than the ensuite hotel room we stayed in, in Inverness the following 2 nights (which included breakfast), this was not value for money, nor somewhere we will return to.
Just some common respect & decency by others would make all the difference, but that’s the age we live in.
