Fell Short of Expectations
We travel to LBI every summer and have stayed all over the island in various types of properties, so we have a reasonable idea of what to expect. Given this, we felt that this property was Very overpriced for the value and were very disappointed. In communicating with the host beforehand, she seemed friendly but disorganized; sent us messages with the wrong dates, etc. Mistakes happen but it made us nervous. She also expressed issues with her upstairs neighbors and warned us from speaking with them? When we arrived, we texted her right away to let her know we found a few broken pieces of furniture. We gave up trying to complain as we soon discovered that many items were broken, stained, visibly dirty or patched together. Nearly every window screen was ripped so we couldn't open them for fresh air without getting flies/mosquitos inside. The closets were blocked by furniture or had personal items inside (no rods or clothing hangars). The top bunk of the bunkbed had no railing to keep kids from falling off. The kitchen didn't come with enough utensils for our family of 4, only 1 pot and 1 pan, and everything looked like it had been bought at a stoop sale - unmatched, too small, broken, etc. The whole house felt like everything had been picked-up off the street. The walls were so thin, we could hear the neighbors snoring at night (no joke) and when they spoke it sounded like they were inside our unit. The blvd traffic was Loud. Only pros were the shower and washer/dryer.
