Horrible experience. I was traveling to Berlin for one night and upon arrival I found the hotel front door closed. Apparently this is normal as there is no staff on hand unless there is a check-in due however this prompted me to give the hotel a call. The lady on the phone then (in a very rude manner) informed me that the booking I had had been cancelled by hotels.com and that there were no rooms available. I had not been informed of this and my booking was still listed as active and upcoming in the app. I called hotels.com and they informed me that they had not cancelled the booking. I was allocated a different hotel close by for the duration of my stay. However I strongly advise against booking at this hotel given that they apparently cancel bookings without notifying their customers or the vendor (hotels.com) in this case. If you want to be sure that your booked room is still available once you get to beeping don’t use city hotel Gotland.
Very Good, nice breakfast, excellent room heating, a bit small rooms (but it's not Hilton). The landlady besides not speaking English, she is charming, smiling and caring.

Convenient location. Room was nice.
Had to call to check in, office was not open. Needed 3 different keys to get through doors to my room. Main entrance hall and stairs were dark at night. Had to use phone flashlight.
The room was small, stuffy, its rugs well worn and the whole place looked like it could use some updates. The fact that you have to park on the street was not communicated clearly. In addition you can't park just everywhere since there are plenty of restrictions where to park without getting a ticket. The staff was barely able to communicate in the local German language which was rather disappointing. All in all I would not return unless there are no other options available.
Horrible experience, do yourself a favor and book somewhere else, the guy at the front desk was extremely rude to us, the place was old, dirty and sketchy and nobody bothered to clean the room or put clean towels during our 3 day stay. So disappointed and would never ever stay at this place again.

Gotland Hotel at a glance
The hotel does NOT have a night clerk so one needs to get there by 6 p.m IF you want to talk to anybody there, but the staff DID send instructions on how to get into the dark hotel @ night (after hours ) and also to get into our room. (3 key system)
The room was spacious as was the bathroom.
There were steps down into the bathroom though, and there was no soap holder etc in the shower itself. There was NO grab bar of any kind to get out of the circular closing doors of the shower that was somewhat elevated, & I almost fell getting out. :) Yikes!
The bed was NICE and they accommodated (yeah) my special request for extra padding due to hip surgery etc a year ago. They also put us on the MAIN floor which was very nice, as there is no elevator in that hotel. They DID have internet that worked well in the breakfast area.
(not so great in our room, but was told there was better reception on the 3rd floor.)
The self-serve breakfast was NICE. The lady who assisted in there was very pleasant.
Also, the location was close to a major bus route & the taxi getting us to the Gotland from the main train station did not break the bank. :)
The clerk when we checked in was grumpy, but otherwise the amenities were fine, the room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was comfortable. We did not try the breakfast but it appeared to be cereal and milk and probably youghurt. They had a coffee/espresso machine but anything other than black coffee was 0.70 euros. It was not luxurious but the price was very good and the neighborhood was very near our friends which is why we picked it.
Strange arrival procedures. And having 3 keys (because property is shared with other residents) is weird.
Sadly the overall appearance is unattractive but it does serve its purpose.
Breakfast was plentiful and pleasing.
We checked in late and they were closed but they were kind and left our key in a safe. The hotel was clean, convenient, and the help was kind. I was very satisfied with our stay.
I stayed 5 nights. I would have left the morning after the first night but it was a non-refundable purchase.
Bad experience to the point of even have to heard a next door couples fight for over an hour before management intervened when they should have called policy almost 5 minutes into the loud argument. I thought a tragedy was to court at any minute.
Bad neighborhood. No stores to buy necessities and even snacks near by. No food service. Bad mistake I made was to believe the hotels.com reviews of it.
