Lonesome Dove - Custom Western Style Log Lodge | Screened in outdoor living

Whether you seek the perfect place to vacation with your large family, want to get away for a week with the guys, gals or couples on your BFF list, or celebrate a special occasion event in Georgia mountain style, Lonesome Dove will fill the bill.

This beautifully landscaped, custom-built showplace sits on 5.5 magnificent acres on a private wooded hillside just a mile from downtown Blue Ridge, with spectacular long-range mountain vistas to greet you from dusk till dawn.

This verdant property includes a lovely garden with a waterfall and a lush expanse of lawn beyond it. It's the ideal setting for family fun, whether it's a casual game of football or soccer or a special occasion celebration like a birthday or holiday. And popular destinations like horseback riding, ziplining, rafting, wineries, orchards, the Toccoa River and Lake Blue Ridge are just minutes away.

Lonesome Dove's interior is pretty spectacular, too, with features you won't find elsewhere. Designed and decorated by the original owner's wife, its furniture is hand-crafted from material obtained at yard sales and auctions in Wyoming, and its logs were cut from standing dead timber there and in Idaho. Real fossils, gathered near Wyoming's Fossil Butte National Monument, are incorporated into the decor including the kitchen's countertop. Rugs, antler chandeliers, and of course the cabin's name—from the television series—represent the western/southwestern theme throughout the rustically elegant home.

The open-plan main living area incorporates the family room, dining room and kitchen: a bright and airy space under a soaring ceiling, with a comfortable leather seating, a stone gas fireplace, 55” flat screen TV, and a spacious cooking and dining area with a butler's pantry, stone hearth, large island with sink, stainless steel appliances including a double size refrigerator, electric stove/oven, crockpot and drip coffeemaker. The dining table seats up to 10, plus 4 at the breakfast bar.

Downstairs, using a separate entrance, you'll find another unique feature of the home: a separate apartment encompassing a bedroom with a king bed, full bathroom, sitting area with 55” flat screen TV, and a kitchen with stove/oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator.

The other four bedrooms also have king beds, custom hand-carved furniture and full bathrooms. The master bedroom, with its impressive log four-poster bed, has an ensuite bathroom with double shower, double vanities, a copper bathtub, and gas fireplace. The other two main level bedrooms share a bath with shower and tub. All three have deck access. Upstairs in the open loft bedroom, there's a foosball table and a cabinet full of board games.

The screened-in, covered porch provides a congenial, comfortable place to gather around the gas fireplace to watch the 32” flat screen TV and enjoy the incredible view. There's plenty of seating and a gas grill for your barbecuing pleasure, and a fire pit out front, so don't forget the marshmallows.

Lonesome Dove's amenities include wireless internet, cable TV, a washer/dryer, and paved driveway with double carport. You're welcome to bring small dogs (under 40 pounds) to enjoy an unforgettable vacation at this very special mountain retreat.

Awesome weekend getaway
The property was just what our group was looking for. The inside of the house was beautiful and made us feel right at home. Wonderful location in Blue Ridge!

Cousins trip
Overall a beautiful place. A few things that needed attention; one of the sofas needs to be repaired or replaced due to frame being broken. The lamp in the bedroom off the kitchen to the right could not be turned off. There was no faucet/handles for the tub in the large main bathroom. We all enjoyed our time there and hope to go back in the future.

Nice house!
We enjoyed our stay tremendously! Although we couldn’t use the master tub, the double shower was a hit! Every bed was spacious. Had everything you need for kids to dogs!

Not the best cabin for a summer stay
This cabin was nice and roomy for our large group but, I would never rent this one again. We stayed for six days and during those six days, some of the rooms never cooled down - the master bedroom was a big issue. It's not that the a/c didn't work, it just didn't work well enough. There are small, independent 'units' in each room and with the large rooms and high ceilings it just wasn't enough to be comfortable. The sofa in the living room was only part of a sectional - the chaise lounge in the pictures was gone and the parts that remained weren't attached to anything so, every time someone sat on it, it would slide apart. The waterfall was more of a water puddle. Even though it rained several days, it never filled up - because of the low water, the motor that ran the waterfall made terrible noises so we pretty much didn't run it at all. The kitchen is really great to cook in - our family cooks - a lot. If you plan to do a lot of cooking, bring your own supplies - mixing bowls, cooking utensils, platters - as it is not very well stocked with those kinds of things. We rent cabins 3-4 times a year - while there was nothing terrible here, there were too many small issues.

Motorcycle trip to Blue Ridge
This house is Beautiful. We didn't like that there was no access to the downstairs from inside the main house. Dishes should be more updated. Windows were dirty. All in all the house should have been cleaner.

A Retreat We Will Never Forget!
Lonesome Dove provides a combination of high-end finishes and quality craftsmanship with a convenience factor to downtown that can't be rivaled. Our family enjoyed every inch of the home, including the lovely outdoor screened porch and fire pit. The kitchen was the nerve center of our home, and we enjoyed working together to make meals. Even though the property is not in the mountains, it's close proximity to shops and the downtown area of Blue Ridge more than made up for it. Situated on more than five acres, we enjoyed the privacy that the home afforded us; we will be back for sure and give give five stars to Lonesome Dove!

No Hot Water for 24 Hours
The house is beautiful! The location is not great if you are wanting to stay in the mountains. The cabin was about 3 miles from the center of town. The downstairs room does have access to the main house without going outside. We arrived and had no hot water for 24 hours. We were not compensated in anyway. While the house appeared clean, the floors were nasty.
