Only thing that let it down was a function in the basement, we were on 1st floor. Went on till early hours, loud music which kept us awake. Had I known i would have booked elsewhere for this visit. 6 hr drive next morning didnt help. I think hotel should inform guests when booking if an event is on that may disturb you. Have stayed here a few times and not had any problems. But this time, not good.
Stayed for one night as my daughter's were attending a concert in Halifax. Room was spacious and clean. The tiles over the bath could have done with a good scrub as the grouting was mouldy but I imagine the cleaner doesn't get enough time to do that. We were in room 25 which was over the restaurant and had vents outside the window on a flat roof. Don't stay in this room with young children as it might be tempting to climb out, which would be very easy to do. Receptionist was very friendly and professional.
Overall really clean and tidy, however did notice that the buttons on the TV remote had staining, so had a peek and there was dust on the kettle and phone. I’m not a germaphobe, but it did make me wonder how clean touch points like the light switches were.
Would also be a good idea to have a fob system to exit the building at night, I couldn’t sleep and had to disturb the night porter a couple of times and felt awful! However, I understand it would be a big change, financially.
Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism and not me being a Karen. Staff were absolutely lovely, check-out was swift and parking was abundant. If I were in the area again, I’d stay her :)
Very clean and well maintained hotel. Very competitively priced. Situated in a small industrial areas near to residential areas. If you are having breakfast, ensure you book it in advance as the price increases by half if you just turn up. Breakfast was a little sparse but food quality was good. I felt that the large sign in the restaurant warning not to take food from the dining room otherwise you would be charged was a little 'Fawlty Towers' like. However, on the whole, its not a major issue as everything else was exactly as it should be. The maintenance and cleanliness was especially impressive.
