Why open if it’s not ready?!

The Hotel was nice, valet helpful, hotel reception really friendly and gave us a free upgrade. Great rooms and beautiful view. Didn’t know the pool wasn’t open which was disappointing. The casino was another thing though. Friendly blackjack dealers, but most of the staff in the casino had any idea of customer service, like they hadn’t been trained on where things where, and how to treat customers. With a few exceptions, our experience was poor for a 5 star hotel experience. The sports bar was the worst! Terrible burgers with patties that were so dry and couldn’t eat it. They promoted playing an NBA game and it was only on a small tv in the TAB. When I asked they said they would put it on the big screen which they didn’t. Tables were dirty, food and drinks left for hours on tables after people had gone, and just no care given. Not many people around and therefore most of the bars weren’t open even on a Saturday at 12pm. Have been to Star Sydney and Gold Coast multiple times and always had a great time and was truly shocked by the average environment they have created at Star Brisbane.

hotels combined cheaper rate than special at hotel

Room was lovely, lot bigger than expected . views were great . no alcoholic drinks in bar fridge but free soft drinks and snacks . no menu for room service , but can scan a code . but on asking they provided menu. basic menu as with Sky Bar , but tasty clean food . Food at Fat Noodle was fresh and priced well , good combination of flavours , helpful happy staff . Sky bar had not great offer on beers . and some tap was flat . not much presentation and had to ask for lime in a drink , that was lemon and lime . constant stream of public walking in large groups in front of view . gambling tables were not busy but it was tuesday night . try get Star Card for discounts online . as takes quite a while at counter . car valet was good and car waiting at door on our checkout made it a breeze . prices at hotel combined cheaper than discount at hotel !

This was a fantastic stay for us. We are long term customers of the treasury hotel next door, and thought we’d try the star grand. Tidy, new, great location and wonderful staff. Our only complaint is that we booked for 1 adult, a 15 year old girl and an 11 year old boy (ages included in booking through Expedia). The room was furnished with a king bed. They informed us all 3 of us were expected to sleep in the same bed, and a trundle was an additional $80 fee per night. I didn’t want to get in to an argument with otherwise wonderful staff, but did indicate to them that this was ridiculous. To summarize; They knew how many were coming, our ages, and accepted our booking, but did not provide adequate sleeping arrangements unless an additional fee was paid. Otherwise, faultless
