I loved my stay at the hotel, right in the middle of everything, walking distance to all the main markets. I go to Mexico to see and live the real México not the tourist version of it.
Unbearable mold smell so I switched rooms, huge 2-inch cockroach crawled out of the bathroom, my fan smoked and burned and stopped due to 220 voltaje there and they would not accept the blame and the woman at the desk screamed at me even though I was very calmly talking to her. Could not sleep due to all-nighter parties accross the Street with super loud music. This is an old 1960 style hotel. Not recomended at all --
It is not a location for tourists, that why the local people don't speak English well, but the people work at hotel are nice, they try the best to talk and make us understanding around areas.the price is very cheap, that why room is basic. It is 25 mins to airport and 5 mins to ferry
Overall good experience, but it was hard to get rest. It was very hot in the rooms without ac, with only fans. The hotel was across the loudest bar with live music every night. Luckyly the music stopped around midnight. I would look for another hotel next time. We found places that had nicer looking hotel with similar price and ac.
This hotel is downtown, so if you want to party it is okay. However, there was no A/C. no towels, it was not in the best part of the city and it was loud. I didn't sleep the entire night. The staff didn't speak any English and there was no phone to call to the reception. I didn't want to leave my daughter alone in the room to go ask for towels. There was loud music, sirens blaring and people talking on the streets all night long.
No toilet seat, had roaches and a lizard in the room very noisy unable to sleep worse bed ever . Had to move to another hotel for safety reasons. Doors didn't feel safe
Spotlessly clean and very pleasant decor. Easy to find and travel to from the airport, and it was the only hotel which would give me a room for a single person and charge only for me, not a non-existent travelling companion as well. As such, it was an excellent hotel to stay in overnight while waiting for a plane to another state the next day. Lots of local police seem to stay there as well, so no worries about security.

An 'Adventurous' Traveller's Dream Location
This hotel has non-English speaking staff (family run) and is in the oldest part of Cancun (pre-tourism era) but it is extremely clean (not one bug and room well swept and bathroom spotless). It is the perfect centrally located spot for catching all the buses (Ruta 1, R-1) to the hotel zone and beaches/nightlife/Maya Museum, the local large grocery stores/malls and banks (Scotiabank), and the long distance bus station (ADO), with lots of small local eateries in walking distance(best value for taste & price was 2 doors down - a cucina economica). Fresh café Americano at the GoMart around the corner for about eighty cents. We stayed for 10 nights and will likely stay there again as it is very inexpensive yet just what we required. Air conditioner works well but isn't really necessary as the safety barred window opens to the fresh breezes. We tried to speak Spanish as much as possible and everyone was always very helpful and never tried to cheat us (in fact taxis gave us discounts) even when we misunderstood prices a couple times. Warning: beds are VERY firm and take earplugs because of noisy roosters & dogs in the early morning. Good for more 'adventurous' travellers - not suitable for someone who wants exactly what they have at home. Most fellow guests were from other parts of Mexico and this hotel has good reviews from Spanish speaking customers.
I stayed at this hotel with my partner, the room was extremely noisy, there were only 8 tv channels (the information said that they had sky tv), there was no internet in the rooms, and two days the internet wasn't working.
Staff speaks no English whatsoever.
When I checkout there was a guy in front desk, he was very rude and didn't want to keep our luggage, despite it was obvious he was keeping others guest luggage. This guy refused to give me a receipt for my stay. He was very impolite and not friendly at all, I really needed my receipt so I had to insist upon getting it, at the end I had to tell him that I would report him to the taxation department, it was the only way I could get my receipt for my stay at Los cuates hotel
