We had a suit, it was everything the picture had described the view was breathtaking! Did try to use our Netflix one night and gave up leaving us with the history channel or Spanish TV. The main pool area is more of a “party” vibe & the smaller one with the jacuzzi is the quiet one. Unfortunately the Jacuzzi was freezing & that was partly why I booked this resort. However we were able to lay out read a book/ relax had fantastic pool side service from Javier. The all inclusive drinks were great! If you are coming here thinking that the bottles in your room are going to be Grey Goose and Don Julio well they aren’t. Not a big deal I just know some people when looking for all inclusive want top level alcohol or some resorts offer tiers, this is not one. You get mid level so Smirnoff, Jose, etc. Meril at the main bar was fantastic right up till our departure absolutely great service. Let’s get into the food, steakhouse was a huge let down my steak was mostly fat and they didn’t offer any side dishes like a traditional steakhouse. The Japanese restaurant that was the best! The steak was better there. Buffet was great for breakfast but lack luster for lunch & dinner. We didn’t take advantage of the party shuttles because we were happy with a low key vibe. If you are like us & have not stayed at a RIU each resort has a theme party with free shuttle to & from. We would consider staying again just hope the menu is better. Only rude encounter was the check out girl.

The beach is perfection; clean, gentle, not deep free of seaweed, and great for swimming. The property is clean and the air conditioning works great. The staff is so friendly and the food was delicious. The only downside is it hosts a younger crowd and can be noisy. But overall, a wonderful stay.

This hotel is in a good location to take tours all over the place, and it's relative close to upscale shopping. The staff is amazing at greeting you and accomodating everything you might want. We were always happy to see them. The Italian restaurant and the buffet (for all meals) was delicious! The Japanese restaurant, though, food was not great. Our only problem was that there's hardly any beach and you cannot walk alongside the beach either since all hotels have something to prevent you from moving between them. The only pool that had no alcohol serving was really cold because it's mostly in shadow all day long. I'm guessing if you're going when the weather is really hot, you'll be thankful for this, but for us, it was practically impossible to swim.

Great stay and consistent with our expectations having stayed at other Riu's. Pros: Young have fun atmosphere, comfy rooms with great hot water and pressure, tasty restaurants that don't require reservations, good coffee, service was excellent Cons: Need more pool loungers, beach was small - not ideal if you wanna go for a stroll

RIU Cancun is a great option if you are looking to have fun, party and stay close to all the downtown Cancun action. Location is good but beach area is not the best. The other side of the Hotel Zone is Cancun have better beaches. The beach here is rocky and small. Still beautiful though. Food options are great and above average hotels in the area. Buffet food is better than other hotels. The main thing are the RIU parties. They have all inclusive parties in their beach club area and these are definitely a must to attend! You will have a blast. Hotel rooms are dated and showing their age so do not expect great decor and room amenities. As long as you have your expectations defined, you will have a great time and enjoy the stay.

Imagine you take a cruise ship and land it at the end of the Vegas strip and one block off the main strip. That is the vibe you get from this hotel. It’s a decent hotel but it is NOT 5 stars. The front desk staff is not helpful, they do not offer transportation to and from the hotel, you are on your own. The food is okay but its pretty much the same thing in each of the 3-4 restaurants. The rooms are clean but maybe were amazing in the 90’s and have not been updated since. You get tokens for the beach towels but the staff try to not give you back the tokens (they charge you at checkout if you don’t have the tokens). Just like a cruise ship, they offer late night entertainment that is loud and honestly a bit trashy. 10/10 would not recommend, unless you are a college kid and want to go there to party.
