If you’re looking for a getaway with personality and charm, look no further than The Barn. For beach lovers who prefer an old-fashioned, no-TV experience, know that many guests have called The Barn “magical.”
Owned by the same family for more than 40 years and converted into a part-time vacation rental, The Barn has been a cherished home for family, friends, and friends of friends (the family still uses it when it’s not being rented.)
The Barn is located in the quiet and lovely north end of Cannon Beach. Close to Les Shirley Park and Ecola State Park, the beach and the Elk Creek estuary are two short blocks away. A moderately paced walk will take you to downtown Cannon Beach in 10 minutes.
The Barn is an older, comfortable home that offers plenty of space to spread out for naps, game-playing, reading and general hanging out. When you step through the front door you’ll walk into a large and inviting open space, with artists’ touches everywhere. A seating area with a built-in sofa, a writer’s nook, and an area filled with books and games and puzzles -- in addition to the dining room table -- offer an option for every mood and interest.
There’s also wi-fi for your screens.
The kitchen is galley-style, and has a washer and dryer.
All three bedrooms are upstairs. The Pine Room has a queen bed and a twin. The Bunk Room has four twin beds and is spacious and is roomy and light filled.
The third floor has “The Cloud Bedroom,” a sweet, little room with a double bed (note that the top stairs leading up to it can have a creaky, old barn sound).
The Barn has two bathrooms. The bathroom on the main floor, while not one you would find at the Four Seasons, fits with the laid-back style of the Barn. The second floor bathroom was recently retrofitted with a spacious half-moon glass shower.
Situated on a double lot, the yard of The Barn offers plenty of space for kids, as well as late night star gazing.
If what you desire is a comfortable experience in a one-of-a-kind beach house, come see why so many people love The Barn.
Guest access
Guest has access to entire property, with the exception of a closed-off attic space next to the “Cloud Bedroom” and two unattached storage structures.
Other things to note
The Barn DOES host dogs, and the fee is $65.40 (sixty-five dollars and forty cents) per dog, per stay (tax included). There is an enclosed dog corral for run-around tail-wagging time.
