Lovely hotel and pool
We had a lovely stay. The had a lovely apartment with all amenities. Used the pool and jacuzzi/sauna/steam room all great. Had a meal in the bar which was great and quite good value. The wine however was extortionate £13 for a large glass and £10 for a medium glass!!! The site was beautiful the lake and grounds were lovely and the little church was lovely! The service was EXCELLENT in hotel and spa. Thank you. Would highly recommend...but stay off the wine!!

Average
Average overall. Rooms comfortable but looking very tired and in need of some TLC. Breakfast was ok and the staff were polite and accommodating. Hotel restaurant and hotel bar are very expensive for food and the quality didn't equal the price.

Chepstow on Business Trip
The hotel setting is fantastic. Driving in the dark though be aware the turn off the main road does take some spotting. The check in was very good. Incredibly polite staff and went the extra mile to make sure we knew where to go. Our rooms were in the seperate section by the lake hence the need for directions. I found the room a great size and very comfortable. The minor issues my colleague and i found were room temperature, particularly in the bathroom. It was far too hot and did not seem easily controllable. My colleague left his front door open to allow heat out. The other issue was the evening meal. The service was very good but the portion sizes on starters wasn't what we expected and quality of the steak was just OK. For the price I was expecting a bit more. The desserts and wine were very good. Breakfast in the morning was very good with plenty of selection and the service was again very attentive. If we travel in this area again we will absolutely come back and maybe try and add some time in for golf and perhaps some different menu choices if we dined there again.

Lovely property for a family holiday.
It’s a beautiful property with a good pool, jacuzzi and spa. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is a good enough spread. Food options are limited, just 2 restaurants and both are overly priced. Just eat has about 12 restaurants in their local list. The rooms are a good size, we stayed in a suite, the main bed room was a super king size but actually 2 beds joined, so there was a gap in between. The living room had a good double sofa bed for our child and we found this a great addition, instead of being crammed into one room or the expensive option of booking 2 rooms. There was a Nespresso machine, apart from kettle and usual tea/coffee supplies, this was a pleasant surprise. There was also a mini fridge in the room. We don’t play golf but for people who do, I think it would be a perfect place for a golfing holiday. I would definitely recommend this property and will surely return. Just a few suggestions, the property could do with a few plugs to charge devices, we had to disconnect either the kettle or coffee machine to charge our phones.

Group stay
Pleasant stay we went to a group of eight others and could only sit with them at breakfast if we paid for a full breakfast otherwise we had to sit in another room and order from the bar. The main portions were small such as pate starter and sausage, sausage and mashed potato, course when you only got two sausages the bedroom had no heating or any additional blankets for a four star hotel. I would’ve expected safe in the room. The property however is stunning

Lovely Hotel
The hotel is a very lovely place, will definitely stay there again. Only down fall was the heating , heaters turned to max and nothing much happened so it was really cold throughout the night, other than that everything was perfect.

Stunning hotel but poor cleaning
The hotel was beautiful and it’s situated on stunning grounds. The check in staff were useless he asked no questions as to what was the reason for our visit he then said your in room 400 this room is lovely. I had paid extra to have this room on my original booking but when finally finding our room we initially thought wow it’s stunning how ever looking closer the bathroom bin was full and almost over flowing from a previous guest. There was that much dust in the bed stands I could have written my name in there this was the same for the tv unit. There were huge black cobwebs in the bedside lampshades big black marks on the ceiling from bugs being in the bedroom. The bed was awful to sleep on not a great night sleep at all both my partner and I had very little sleep. The shower was terrible I could have been wetter if I had taken a dip in the lake. The hotel offers a lovely coffee machine in our room booking for two but only coffee for 1 there was only 1 coffee pod in the selection as if we wasn’t worthy of a selection of coffee. The gasses and cup was dirty from the previous guests. The hotel facilities pool and spar area are lovely however ever members seemed quiet rude I was told that’s where I normally sit while using the hot tub then sniggering at me as I got out of the hot tub. The best thing about this hotel was the breakfast staff and the breakfast I certainly will not be going back anytime soon.

Charming hotel with elegance
What a lovely hotel. We stayed here as a base to go to Chepstow races. Great location. We had a king superior room in the St Pierre Village. Very charming place. Food at the trophy bar was lovely in the evening. Would love to stay again and use the leisure centre and spa. The grounds are gorgeous X

Great stay at this hotel. Beautiful historical house complete with courtyard, small church and cemetery (pity the church wasn't open, as would like to have looked inside). Stayed in the village opposite the hotel. Was like staying in your own home, very large room. However, cleaning was needed. Not properly hoovered, few cobwebs and they didnt service the room over the 2 days. Bathroom was dated and the bath incredibly high to get in and out of. Dined on both nights, Valentin was brilliant behind the bar and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Good food and the carvery was delicious! Nice selection of bar drinks, lots of golfers, so if the bar was a bit rowdy, there were lots of other sitting areas throughout the lobby and lounges. Overall, really nice and would go back.

Great breakfast!! Room had a soaking wet carpet which we had to use towels to ‘mop up’, this was reported to reception when we arrived and we were told someone from maintenance would be out the next day. No one ever arrived. Nice big bed, although dated. Windows were absolutely filthy, complete with cobwebs on the inside. Housekeeping was in attendance every 3rd day, you could request clean towels if necessary. There was not enough tea, coffee or milk for 3 days. We requested extra milk & were assured some would be delivered later that day. It never arrived. First night the restaurant was fully booked (192), so we could only eat in the bar, from a very limited menu. Limited more so because they ran out of fish for the fish and chips. Next night we did go to the main restaurant which was a lovely room with great staff. They ran out of fish n chips again and there were limited amount of steaks available, so we couldn’t have what we wanted. I would not choose to stay here again which is a great shame, it’s a beautiful building.
