Great staff but no hot water in the shower for my last two days there. They were notified but don’t know if anything was done since it wasn’t fixed by the time I left. I was also offered late check out due to VIP status when I checked in, but when I took up on their offer a day before checking out, they said they couldn’t do up to the time they originally offered which was 3pm. They let me stay until 2pm but apparently it wasn’t even documented since I received a call from the front desk asking me what time I was leaving. I was asked who I spoke to but I couldn’t remember the employees name. They also couldn’t upgrade my room due to VIP status but I wasn’t expecting them too since I was there for a wedding and figured most rooms would be booked. For the most part it’s a great hotel with kind employees. I would stay again and not let these two incidents deter me.

Amazing location everything walkable to all the attractions torre del reloj 4 minutes walking also el muelle de la Bodeguita. 10 minutes walk to barrio de Getsemaní. All the great restaurants with beautiful views of the city are 5 minutes away. Staff was more than amazing also everything is very clean and who was great. Hotel is fantastic the rooftop and pool are everything only thing I didn’t like was they don’t play ballenato and barely and Spanish music like we in Colombia not USA but besides that everything else was great definitely staff and location are the best

Highly recommend excellent hotel

All of the staff went above and beyond at this hotel. Buffet breakfast was fresh and delicious. Offered a variety of options. The pool was an infinity edge with an incredible view of the city and ocean. Even had a pool bar. Check in was seamless. Rooms were clean and modern. Booked a private city tour through the concierge , which was a blast. Highly recommend and location was walkable to many stores and restaurants.

I chose this location trying to stay away from the madness of the historic center (old city) as it can turn crazy come sleep time. I absolutely made the right choice. GHL is a very short walk from the historic center, which is where the party and dining usually happen, but provides the peace and quite you want when trying to rest. Bu the way, the beds and pillows and tops, really great quality. The staff is amazing all around, Alfonso, Camila and Cristian were wonderful always one step ahead of our needs and always so accomodating, they were a big part of having such a good experience with this hotel, Thank you. The pool, oh the pool, amazing views, trust me you will get the best photos ever. The pool staff is also amazing, I think the name of the main guy is Jose. This hotel is wonderful all around, can't wait to be back in Cartagena and definitely stay at GHL.

Excellent stay and great staff. I asked for a quiet room and my room was quiet. I had the best sleep of my my one month stay in Colombia. Very convenient location as well. I will return for sure. Some areas for improvement: a little hectic during breakfast sometimes so I think they need to add more staff during busy season. I also had a few hiccups as a solo female traveller of color but the staff handled it well and were very apologetic. I think some training on biases and assumptions would be helpful as well.

The hotel was at a convenient walkable location. There are many excellent dining options very close to the hotel. We arranged for pickup at the airport, which was very convenient. Our driver was on time and very helpful. Alfonso at the reception area also provided excellent customer service by giving recommendations and helping us at check in and check out.

Very well located, close to both walled city and Getsemaní and the port. The room was a good size and very nice and clean and modern. Washroom was the same, good by all accounts. The breakfast buffet options are good however it’s a very chaotic experience, trying to find a table and then flagging servers down for coffee or to order food not from the buffet etc. other than the breakfast delays I enjoyed my stay very much. It didn’t bother me that much but in case you’re on a tight schedule it’s good to know. I would stay here again regardless.

The small things that let it down

We booked 2 bookings at this hotel, and we had similar experiences. The rooms were comfortable, but the one room we had had aview to a brick wall... was not very appealing. Small details were what let this hotel down.. - netflix didnt connect - you go to the bar and the cocktail you order off the menu is not available - you call to order room service, the one meal you chose is not available - you enter your room, no body wash in the bottles - no tissues in the tissue holder A few examples of how this hotel lets itself down. The hotel is undergoing a renovation,so alot of workers in the area which was annoying, but understandable. In full, i would not stay at this hotel again, or any GHL hotel...poor experiences with them travelling in Colombia - definitely not a 5 star as they claim!

I had great expectations based on this Hotel reviews but we had some issues with the Room cleaning service and check in (Room was not ready at 3pm probably because the delay cleaning the rooms, we had to request to have the room cleaned after 2pm) I always leave tip to the cleaning ladies in any Hotel I travel to but even though the cleaning lady left us only 1 towel the first day (we are a couple) the 2nd day she didn't leave any towel, I think the Hotel management should enforce the room to be cleaned on time and doing it properly other than that the rest of the Hotel staff was very friendly and we had a good experience

Not what I expected

I expected a nicer hotel for the reviews . The breakfast was awful. The lobby was under construction and dusty. They don’t allow friends to visit you past the lobby area. The room had a broken lock at the window. I will rate it a 3!. The staff is pleasant but I will not stay here again. The bed was clean and the room was large. The location is great also and safe.
