This was a good enough basic hotel in Catania, near to the station. However it was noisy and not particularly comfortable for sleeping. Nice breakfast.

We loved our stay at this unique hotel which was a former palace. The staff was helpful and friendly especially Francesco. The breakfast was good and it was served in a lovely garden courtyard. The rooftop deck was an added bonus. It was easy to take a cab to the city center so we were not bothered by the location which was near the train station. We would stay there again! Jeanine and Paul

The staff was very friendly. Breakfast & a beautiful outdoor courtyard were terrific amenities. The hotel was in walking distance to so many great restaurants.

The hotel is old but has very unique decor, with several pretty court yards. The neighborhood is run down but does have some restaurants near by. It is close to the bus station and train station.

New mattresses needed
The hotel room had some good points such as a decent shower, friendly staff, and accessibility to the stations. The bed matttreses were very poor however. I later noticed previous reviews where this was flagged as a issue. We had a double bed and two single beds for our use but could only use one single and one half of the double for sleep, as the other single one and other half of the double mattress were not fit for sleeping on, springs had gone. As the hotel was fully booked we could not change rooms.

First of all, don’t be put off by the exterior and the area as it does look rough and dirty. However, the hotel itself is fine, even if a little dated. Just make sure you ask for a room at the rear. Sadly we didn’t and ended up with a room right above the front door and it was so noisy. For one night, it was fine but I would not have been able to put up with it for any longer. Breakfast was fine, but a little limited.

Our short stay was really good! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful , the room clean and the breakfast fresh and delicious. Situated close to airport and with sea views- if you were passing through Catania as we were this hotel is perfect
