This property is Shared Lakefront
The view and location on the lake are fantastic! We loved the close proximity to our favorite winery, Lake Michigan, Cedar, TC, Fishtown, hiking, etc! However you should know a few things that the owner doesn’t disclose. This is a shared lakefront and there can be many people (neighbors/renters) sharing the lakefront, fire pit, dock and parking. The back neighbors watch you like a hawk and yell at you out their window. There is limited parking and we were not informed of a limit of 2 cars. (traveled in 3 cars). The owner will promise you the moon but doesn’t follow through. (extra days, $$ off next stay, free time during off season, but the neighbors said no one returns) We turned on the oven and the place filled with the smell of gas. We were told someone would be out the next day and when they didn’t come, I texted the owner and was told he would be out the next day, no one ever showed. The dock steps are unsafe and the whole thing shifted during our stay, making it more unstable. Owner told us the dock was his but the neighbors laughed and stated that all of it is shared property, including the dock. (next door neighbor helped put in the shared dock) There were cobwebs and visible dirt on the floors, dust everywhere. The neighbors were nice enough but clearly unhappy with the VRBO situation. The owner should not be charging the same about for a similar place with private lake frontage! Honesty about this property is what is missing! VRBO did nothing to help us!

Peaceful and friendly
Older cottage, with old charm. Nothing fancy but fit our family needs. Super location with boat landing 50 feet away. Friendly neighbors. Located on west side of the lake with less wind. Watch the long boat rowing club practice every other morning.

Quaint cottage on the lake!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. The views of the lake were fantastic and the shallow sandy bottom encouraged floating and relaxing. The owners were super easy to work with and offered many suggestions of things to do while in the area.

Nice affordable stay
The property is in a great location. It’s really close to all the other towns. The lake is beautiful and it has its own dock. The only thing I would suggest is the outside be power washed and re stained. This didn’t effect the interior at all but, first impressions. Even though the weather didn’t completely cooperate we still really had a very nice time. Great place and location !

Perfect fall getaway
The cottage was everything we hoped for and more. In a quiet, peaceful and beautiful setting it is a perfect spot to unwind and appreciate nature's offerings. The weather was too chilly to partake of the many available water activities, but the front windows overlook the lake and invite you to sit a spell and take in the ever changing views. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need and the host, Robert, is a treasure trove of information on the general area. He recommended restaurants, wine tastings, things to do and see, which were very helpful. If traveling in the colder months, you should know that there is no central heating, although the fireplace is very efficient once you get your fire going., There are also several electric space heaters which warm things up quite quickly. We enjoyed the comfortable cottage and accompanying view very much.

Lake Life is Best
Our family had an amazing time at this property! The cottage is adorable, and the views spectacular. The main bedroom upstairs has such a great view of the lake. Comfortable bed (queen? full?) and shelves full of books to read. The other upstairs bedroom has 2 twin beds, and a few rollaways. My boys loved the sitting area in between the two rooms. Downstairs bedroom has another full bed and also has a bit of a lake view. The gathering space downstairs is perfect, cozy but lots of room to share meals and play games while still having full view of the lake. The kids loved splashing around in the lake, and the older kids had a blast with the kayaks. Sunrises are amazing here! Definitely a spot we would love to return to. Bob and Cathy are wonderful hosts and were so helpful with any questions we had.

Great location. Needs a thorough clean-up.
We booked this cottage for a family get-away including several adults plus my elderly mother. I didn't end up bringing my mom and I'm glad that I didn't since this cottage has several steps and was very dirty. It was just my husband and I. I love the location lake front and near the Sleeping Bear Dunes park area. I appreciated being able to use the kayaks. What I wasn't expecting was having to bring all my own linens-sheets & towels. Thankfully we didn't need all the beds. The cottage was very dirty. The bathroom had layers of sand, dirt, and even blood spots on the floor. I got on my hands and knees and mopped the entire bathroom twice to get up the bugs, dirt, etc. The mop water was dark brown from dirt. The shower had the previous guests' soap and smears. The entire cabin was full of cobwebs and insects. The wall unit air conditioners were visibly covered in black mold and smelled very musty. We turned them off immediately and kept the windows open. The cottage is quaint but cluttered. The deck had chairs strewn all over covered in bugs. We swept the deck, cleaned off the furniture, and stored the extra chairs. The neighbors will share your lake frontage so expect them to walk by often and in the area by the cottage. Overall, major decluttering and cleaning are needed for this cottage. We thankfully did not end up needing the upstairs which does not have a stair rail to hold on to. Please be aware there is a step down into the kitchen and bathroom area. We appreciated having a washer and dryer. We brought all our own paper products and soaps, etc. There was 1 roll of toilet paper when we got there and no other toiletries. I contacted the owner about the condition of this cottage and he said he was sick to hear of the condition and would reimburse my cleaning fee. I have not heard from him since. In the age of Covid, it's simply unacceptable to rent such a dirty cottage. I do feel for him having trouble finding cleaning help. I gladly would've paid twice the cleaning fee if any of it had actually been done. I am writing this review to warn others who need a clean cottage with clean AC so they don't get sick from staying here.

Great Place
The property was great, it was very clean and quiet. There's a nice fireplace inside the house that really helps it warm up during the cold evenings. The location is also great, about 15 minutes to Sutton's Bay, 20 to Traverse, and 20 to Sleeping Bear Dunes (among many other great places). Our family had a very memorable time and were thankful to Bob for the great accomodations.

Perfect Cozy Lake Cottage Getaway
This cottage was perfect for our little trip! The cottage itself is cozy and comfortable, had everything we needed for our family - and the views overlooking Lake Leelanau are beautiful - especially if you can catch a sunrise! Location was great for us too since it's basically midway between Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Also, we couldn't ask for a nicer, more responsive owner - Bob made sure that we had everything we needed, and gave us some great recommendations of things to do/see in the area. We'll definitely be making another trip out here!
