Studio Hors Piste - Central Chamonix

PERFECT FOR : a couple or single person looking for a basecamp in the 'centre ville' of Chamonix.

THE BUILDING : 'Residence les Balances' houses a number of small studios and apartments and is set in the heart of the village on the main pedestrian square, steeped in history, surrounded by cobbled paving, statues of mountain pioneers and old shops, bars and restaurants. Studio Hors Piste is on the 3rd floor of this building and access is via the main staircase or a small central lift.

INSIDE : Studio Hors Piste has a minimal but cosy feel, compact but certainly large enough to be comfortable. It has an open plan kitchen set to one side of the main room, with a breakfast bar separating the kitchen from the bedroom, where you have a double bed and a foldable table to work or eat at, with 2 x chairs. The large, original windows in this room let in plenty of natural light and offer beautiful views of the mountains, the busy streets below, and across to the main church and the Brevent ski slopes. They open up to a small balcony where you can watch the world go by. There is a shower room with WC and basin and a large storage cupboard in the hall.

GREAT LOCATION : If you are a trail running fan then this is the perfect spot to see the start and finish of many of the big courses, including the Mont-Blanc Marathon and the UTMB races.

GETTING AROUND : is easy being so central, with a choice of bus stops and train stations just a stones throw away. Buses are free with your lift pass, or you can buy tickets online in advance or on the bus. Chamonix Holidays will provide your group with tourist cards (Carte d’hotes), which give you free travel on the local train service plus discounts at the pool and entry to museums. Night bus’s run between Argentiere and Les Houches and cost 4€ per person.

USEFUL INFO:
There is no parking space reserved for the apartment, but there is a large shared space in the basement to store bikes.
The kitchen has a kettle and an under-counter fridge with freezer section, a new ceramic hob and a new mini oven. There is no wifi in the apartment but plenty of places with free wifi near by to use as required
