"The Birdhouse" is close to everything but it feels like you are in the woods somewhere surrounded by trees, birds chirping and squirrels. Private guest suite located in West Ashley just minutes from downtown Charleston, the airport, James Island and Folly Beach! This cozy space holds 4 adults comfortably and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy some fresh air. There are many places walking distance from my property - Los Reyes Mexican, O2 Fitness, Harris Teeter, Metro Diner, Tin Roof and Home Team BBQ! Avondale neighborhood is biking distance and a short Uber ride away.

Kitchenette includes a mini refrigerator with freezer, kitchen sink, microwave, air fryer, toaster, blender, electric hot plate and cooking pot/utensils. Keurig and French press included with coffee and creamer. This is NOT a full kitchen so if you plan to make a lot of cooked meals here this listing is probably not the best for you. You're welcome to grill meals outside when it's nice out!

Each room is equipped with a portable fan, ceiling fan, full length mirror and TV connected to Roku and WIFI. Both rooms have a desk, chair and mirror for remote work or getting ready to go out. There is a twin blow up mattress and plenty of extra pillows and blankets should you need it.

The inside space consists of 2 bedrooms, hallway, kitchenette, bathroom and shared laundry room.
There is no inside living room space but we have worked hard to make the screened deck as cozy as possible!

The screened in deck has a tall ceiling to keep air flow going but bugs and rain out. There is a fan, outdoor propane heater and gas fire table to keep you warm in the winter. There is a full-size futon (great for afternoon naps!) couch, Roku TV and bistro table to enjoy coffee in the morning. We have many nice days in Charleston and the deck is great for outdoor living! in addition, you have a private yard, inflatable hottub, dining set and hammock to enjoy. Your yard is separated from ours with a 6ft vinyl privacy fence.

Full bathroom with tub and shower. Lots of towels and natural/fragrance free toiletries for you to use!

Note : this is a guest suite that is attached to my home. the Floorplan is such that we can't really hear one another but wanted to reiterate. no parties allowed.

Dog Owners - I charge a one-time $50 pet fee. if you plan to bring your dog please adjust the booking as such. There is a large dog crate under the bed in the back yellow room for your use! there are some treats in kitchen cupboard and dog bowls on the deck. Please pick up dog poo with complimentary doggie bags!

Beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and towels are available for your use

Home was double booked
I was in Charleston for a very short trip actually just picking up a car that had broke down on my husband a few weeks ago while he was in Charleston. Since my trip was so short, I thought it would be nice to rent a cute little home with a nice patio to enjoy the little bit of time that we had. My friends and I had worked all day and made the 3 1/2 hour journey from North Carolina when we got off work. The lockbox code worked but there was no key in it, door of house was open though. Walked into the home and found someone else laying in the bed. Apparently the home was supposed to be blocked off for a long-term renter, but it wasn’t. I had to find something very last minute, which of course cost us double the price. 1 million things could’ve gone wrong in this situation. I know for me specifically, if someone walked into my home, I would pull a gun out on them thinking an intruder was coming jn. The owner did write back in profusely apologize but she definitely didn’t answer the phone when I was trying to call initially. My trip was instantly confirmed so my money was instantly taken out, I still have not received my refund. I did receive check-in instructions at the proper time along with the lockbox code, so I guess I can’t really negatively rate that experience. The owner blamed the whole thing on a technical issue on behalf of Vrbo. I did book this place more than 24 hours in advance, so I’m not really sure how the owner was not notified.

Outstanding place to stay
One of the best short term rentals I’ve stayed in! Check-in couldn’t have been simpler, and the place itself is terrific. It was great for our two bulldogs - especially the screened-in porch area that stayed cool enough for them to hang out in all day. Lots of bugs but that’s just Charleston. Everything was clean and the space is very well-supplied. Would stay there again 100%.

Screen porch was the highlight
Overall this was a decent stay. I loved the porch with the cozy setup and the backyard. That’s the main reason I decided to book. I was hoping to be able to sleep outside, but the mattress was too hard for me. The location was nice. It was close to the beach and Charleston. The only things that would keep me from coming back are the pressure of the shower, it was way too intense and the tub didn’t drain quick enough. The smell was musky and not the most pleasant.

This is an older home that has been renovated and is a mix of old (bathroom) and new floors, finishes, etc. My main concern was that it was a house divided into back and front, with the owners living in the front. Only separated by an adjoining door. Just my personal preference but I prefer a separate space. The porch is nice but be aware it is the only place to sit and socialize. Inside the home is only bedrooms, bathroom, shared laundry and the tiny kitchen. Evening drinks on the patio were quite chilly even with the heaters on. Would be a great space especially in the warm weather. Mildew smell when you walk in. Kitchen area is very small. Really only enough space to cook single meals or toast and coffee.

My dog and I were only there for one night, but it was absolutely perfect for the both of us. Very peaceful, private and relaxing location. The screened porch and fenced in back yard were perfect for my dog to safely enjoy while I was out for business meetings. An easy 1 minute drive to enjoy some Home Team BBQ, complete with good food, good tunes and some pretty awesome Widespread Panic and Grateful Dead memorabilia on the walls. I will definitely look to book again one day. Natalie was awesome.

It is a special little place, in the sense that it does feel private and cozy. It is an old neighborhood so we weren't comfortable walking around after dark . It is a very convenient location if your're driving to the places you plan to go to. I love that they allow dogs of any size, we have a Bernese Mt. Dog and many properties don't allow over 40lbs. The fenced in area was perfect for letting her out at night. And the screened porch is great.....nice set up We were only there for two nights, but we will go back again, hopefully when it's cooler

We had a very enjoyable stay in West Ashley. It is a good location and not far from just about everything. The house is comfy and clean. The screened in porch is a very nice amenity. Hidden Gem
My family stayed at The Bird's Nest for a quick vacation to Charleston. It is an adorable cottage connected to the owner's home. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Natalie had plenty of supplies including k-cups, cofee creamer, towels, and a pantry stocked with things you might need such as soap, lotion, etc. She quickly answered any questions I had. It was well decorated and cozy. My favorite thing was the futon on the screened in porch. We didn't have the best weather but it was nice to relax and lay on the porch and listen to the rain. We would definitely return.
