Property is old and needs updating. Bathrooms had rust stains around sink and toilet. Tiles were broken and doors had chipped paint from top to bottom.

Hotel is very old and seriously outdated. Not the cleanest. Broken Furniture in room. For the value, it was severely over priced. So many other options on the peninsula for that price

I liked the location and being right next to a park in the city. Would have been nice to be able to see the park through our window but there was NO window! Great for sleeping in pitch black, I guess, not so good for knowing when to wake up. Fresh air is a good thing too. Not a room for the claustrophobic. I love that they made the old Citadel into a hotel but I don't think it's been updated since. It could use a refresh.

This was the most expensive rundown hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It looks as if it’s not been updated in 30 years. There’s black mold on the bathroom ceiling, smells of mildew, wallpaper is falling off the walls, carpet is old, stained and in some places worn through. Lines for breakfast were long, food that was available was cold and we had to wait for other food to be replenished. With taxes, fees and parking, we paid over $600 per night! Hilton should be ashamed.

Location location location!
The location is perfect. The farmers market is steps away and everything is walkable. The suites were very spacious but not a window anywhere. The beds and furniture were very comfortable but everything was extremely outdated. The breakfast is generous and delicious as was the complementary happy hour. The staff were extremely accommodating. Would definitely stay here next time.

The Ol Citadel is a fun place to stay. If you are looking for a historical hotel to stay in, this is the place. The breakfast is pretty good, staff is attentive. I recommend the omelet station.

Besides the semi-ok location & free breakfast there was nothing good about this hotel. I should've been charged 1/3 of what I pd or less for what we rec'd. A bar open only 2hrs a day & other than the 7-10am free breakfast, close to zero ability to get any food or bevs (besides the miniscule front desk 'store' w/a few odds & ends). The sitting room was useless..instead of a coffee/eating table by the couch & chair there was nothing..on another wall was a writing desk, not suited to eat at (if you could find any food). The heat/ac system was outdated & horrible. We turned the circa 1950s thermostat (no temp numbers on it) all the way up b/c our room was very cold & it barely kept the room lukewarm for our 2 nite stay. It ran constantly, was noisy & there were only 2 air vents in the whole space, one on each side of the same wall separating the bed area from sitting area. No bottled water provided-you had to go get your 2 complimentary bottles. Only 2 close-by restaurants & 1 of them you can't get into on Sun's during football season. The room had worn, torn, outdated carpet, it smelled musty, one outlet near the bed protruded from the wall & prob. posed a fire hazard, the furniture is ancient & not in a good way, TV channel selection was pathetic, the 1 window looked up into a parking garage despite the room being on the second floor, the drapes wouldn't close all the way & the lighting was awful. Entire property needs an overhaul/update/upgrade. Huge waste of $. Never again.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Wallace and Tony at the desk. The bartenders could bend their elbow a bit more. The wine was barely half a glass, but it was free at the Manager's Reception, so I shouldn't complain! The free bus stop across the street was a nice touch for getting around.
