Check-in was a nightmare. The Quality Inn computer system was down and we stood 30 minutes while the desk clerk worked - silently, no apologies offered.

Good food, slept well in Chesterton!
Overall experience was great! Close to toll road and all things you would need for weekend trip. A definite MUST while visiting Chesterton is a visit to AJ's Pizza Co at 3050 Matson St!! The friendliest staff, especially Madi the bartender. Food is great. Such an enjoyable visit for us. Good atmosphere and slept well.

Disappointing for a Quality Inn
Outside presentation was poor. I literally drove by the front entrance as I thought it was the side of the building. No sign or obvious entrance to the lobby. Lobby decorations very utilitarian. No decorations or anything. Check in was the worst ever. It took 35 minutes to wait on two other customers and check in as they were having computer issues (which I finally found out). No apology, explanation or anything. Paper plates for breakfast which you had to use more than one to hold your food. I don't think their front door was handicapped accessible.

A nice quiet location and the property is in pretty good shape. Be sure to check out downtown Chesterton and the 219 Taproom (excellent Detroit style pizza). Also conveniently located near Indiana Dunes National Park, and the Dunes Station of the South Shore Line for easy access to Chicago.

We stayed at this hotel for three (3) nights. There was plenty of on-site parking, and this hotel was largely empty and quiet on some weekdays during the middle of September. Our room was clean and comfortable, albeit our room was older, and we had no issues with the air-conditioning unit, the television, the wifi, nor the hot water. This room had no couch, but it had: a desk, a chair, a microwave, and a refrigerator. There was no daily room service offered, but if we needed any extra supplies, we were given them by the staff members. Most of the staff members were amicable. Each morning, I used this gym's treadmill and weight machine. This hotel's breakfast was decent, and it contained: coffees, juices, teas, water, toasts, bagels, muffins, bananas, apples, waffles, yogurts, pre-made burritos, and cereals. Indiana Dunes National Park's West Beach was about twenty (20) minutes away, and Chicago was about sixty (60) minutes away. This hotel had many nearby restaurants, and Interstate-94 was a close drive from this hotel.

The room had a chemical smell. The tub would not drain, and had to be snaked to get the water down. The toliet was unstable and moved. The toliet paper was so thin you could almost see through it. The chair in the corner had a bunch of old room key/cards under the cushion, which you could easily see when the cushion slid forward, so it definitely was not cleaned properly. I will say that the bed was very comfortable with down pillows and blanket.
