If you ever visit Chicago and are looking for a quiet and quirky place to stay that makes you feel at home, then the Villa Toscana is where you need to stay. The artwork and overall theme to this BnB is eccentric and fun, very easy going vibe and I would most definitely recommend this place to everyone I know that may visit Chicago in the future. 10/10 would come back.

Basic, a bit weird, semi broken, but acceptable
This is the definition of a budget stay. The directions arrived by email as advised and the check in was easy. There are absolutely no frills to this stay and it’s only perfect if you’re on a night out in Boystown or similar and just need a place to crash. The light wasn’t working in the room, the door stuck and there are motion activated CCTV cameras across the premises which feels a bit big brotheresque. Across the property are lots of notices saying what to do, what not to do etc and it feels a bit authoritarian. The stay was cheap and served it purpose, but if you’re expecting anything more than the basic, don’t. There are no keys to the property and it’s all through a key code; forget the code and you’re done for, because you’re not allowed to ring the bell for the staff between 9pm-9am (in true form, there’s a sign!).

It is a very old house, but charming. The floors are wooden and can be creaky. I could hear people walking around in the room one floor above me. I had the "Moroccan" room which has its own bathroom. The toliet was in a very tight/tiny space between the sink and the shower.

We were attending a concert and found this place last minute. What a treat!! The neighborhood was great, walkable and conveniently located! Right smack dab in the middle of a busy block, this guesthouse was a peaceful place set back off the road. Like almost anywhere in Chicago, parking is difficult. With a little patience, we found a great spot and used the parking permit provided by the hosts. Our dog found the neighborhood to be agreeable as well😉 The virtual check in was a little tricky and not what we are used to. However, Brandon and Ashley were awesome and patient while helping us walk through the required steps. If our travels bring us back to Chicago, we would absolutely stay here again✌️❤️

Bathroom had some issues with not working correctly. Sink was unstable, toilet handle kept falling off, door had issues closing. Bedroom door had issues closing. However, it was quaint and cozy . Breakfast was great. Loved that it’s snuggled into a busy street yet kept it’s charm.

Don’t expect breakfast
Don’t expect any human interaction. This is supposed to be a bed and breakfast but without the breakfast. There was some fruit, oatmeal and cereal, grab and go. On the card in the room it said to contact Ashley for anything, never saw this Ashley and there was no phone number to contact her. Location was good, just a few minute walk to the baseball stadium.
