Lovely stay
We had a lovely stay. The facilities are great, with access to the spa, and the rooms are warm and clean. Bar space has recently been redone and looks lovely.

The hotel itself was impressive .However , our room was in need of a refurbishment.Dated fixture and fittings .Very small double bed ….. but it was a cheap room rate

The room was cold. Rang to reception who told us the heating was on a timer and it shoukd come on but it never did. Communication between reception and dining area very poor. Quoted 1 price at reception for breakfast and then quoted a different price after we had finished breakfast to pay for it. Breakfast was cold. Which is not expected when youre supposed to be ordering fresh off a menu.

Lovely hotel downstairs lovely staff and very nice golf course on the other hand the rooms are very dated and not modern like shown so not work the money we paid for a room which looked 20 years old. We used the spa facilities and they are average not modern like some but all was working and you could use free of charge with the stay at the hotel.

Hotel needs improving. Great place to have your wedding or have a round of golf but they lack the hospitality of a hotel. Carpets are very old and worn. Rooms are over cluttered with furniture. Bathroom is from the 90's. Didn't get to use the pool and spa as it closed at 6 pm and checked n was at 3pm. We got there after a three and a half hour drive, so we had a siesta nap only to find out that the pool had closed. In the morning (10.30am) we where woken up by noises of someone trying to break into our room (which was locked from the inside). I yelled and the person said 'oh its only housekeeping! I'll come back later! Later, i found out that their check out time is 10.30, which is very weird. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and the earliest check out I've ever experienced is 11:30am.

Had a fabulous stay at Shaw Hill Golf Resort Hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very helpful, friendly and welcoming member of staff on reception who upgraded our rooms without any prompt from us. We were also informed about breakfast options if we so wished. The rooms were spacious, clean and had lovely views over the immaculately kept golf course. I’d read reviews that the rooms were ‘dated’ but our room clearly had a newly fitted carpet and decor and furnishings were well in fitting with the style of the hotel and added to its feel and character. Breakfast was amazing - a continental buffet and cooked to order hot options. All staff were welcoming, warm and friendly and very accommodating. If you appreciate warm, comfortable and bespoke hotels as opposed to the large chains of modern and uniformity ones then I’d highly recommend Shaw Hill. We will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely stay; the staff were lovely, the food was great, and the kids and I enjoyed swimming in the hotel pool. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little dated, and the building and its surroundings were pretty. Would happily stay here again.
