About this property

The Call of the Water. Isolated cabin on river in San Juan National Forest.

Positioned on 10 acres on the West Dolores River with 450 feet of river frontage and surrounded by national forest, you can fish for beautiful trout right out your door, or hike/hunt in the USFS land adjoining this property on two sides, kayak the river during the spring melt, inner tube during summer, mountain bike the nearby trails, or just enjoy the firepit and watch hummingbirds. Your call. This well-loved, river-front cabin can be your place to get away from it all. We invite you to get active, sit in the Adirondack chairs and enjoy the view up or down our valley, or both!

Amenities: Fully Provisioned Kitchen, Luxury Bedding, Plumbed Propane Grill, Wood Burning Firepit and Outdoor Seating, Free WiFi, and Smart TV.

In 2024, we partnered with Dolores River Anglers/Trout Unlimited and the Colorado Water Conservation Board in a bank restoration/trout habitat enhancement project for our 500 feet of water. 4 j-hooks, 9 boulder clusters, and a root wad provide excellent habitat for trout and great fishing.

Located where the Aspen begin to grow, the property is on both sides of the river and positioned conveniently near mountains and desert. Durango, Telluride and four corners are all about an hour's drive. Fish the West Dolores River on our property (recently improved habitat) and in forest property in both Dolores river valleys. Hike nearby trails like Bear Creek, Lizard Head, or Hope Lake. Mountain bike at Boggy Draw or Phil's World Bike Trails. Mesa Verde and Canyon of the Ancients are nearby. Watch wildlife, fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the river just outside your bedroom window. Unplug and unwind in our little valley.
During your stay at this cabin, you'll be within walking distance of Dolores River. Enjoy your stay with amenities like free WiFi and a kitchen in the cabin.

Wonderful Vacation Spot
My two teenage kids, my husband, and myself had the best time staying in this little cabin by the river. Everything was so clean and well stocked. We felt so comfortable in this cabin and we were in awe of the view out the windows. My husband is a contractor and noticed how well built the cabin is and loved the architecture of it. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.

Dolores Colorado cabin
This is a great cabin for a stay in Southwest Colorado. The West Dolores river is feet from the house. The cabin has been updated and has everything you need for a perfect stay. The host was very responsive. I was lucky to find this property for my vacation.

Absolutely wonderful!
Our stay at the cabin was wonderful! We had a glitch when checking in ( with the cleaning) and the owner was extremely responsive, took care of it ASAP, and gave us a bit of a refund for the inconvenience. The cabin was well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The location is convenient and the cabin is totally cozy! My only suggestion would be to improve the lighting with some lamps. Highly recommend!

September stay
Really loved this property right on the river. Expansive windows. Even came with a 7 am squirrel wake up call dropping cones on the roof. Part of the rustic charm. :) Great location and private and close to so many beautiful places.

Cabin in the woods
Enjoyed this cozy cabin on the west Dolores River. It was very peaceful. Picked this cabin as a central location so that we could go to Durango, Telluride, Ridgway/Ouray and Silverton. The drives to these towns were spectacular. If you love the sound of water at night to help you sleep, this is the place.

Awesome Getaway!
This place is great, we enjoyed being away from town, its easy to get to, in and out. Very clean and open, right next to the river. Only 13 miles into town. Very comfortable* * A 2" memory foam mattress topper would be a great addition, as this mattress is very firm. My bones would appreciate that!

Quiet Place to Enjoy Nature
We enjoyed our stay at this nice, quiet cabin on a river. The cabin was comfortable with great views of the river and the surrounding hills and forest. The cabin had all the necessary amenities, and we really appreciated the extensive information that the host provided about the area and things to do. The location is great for exploring Dolores, Cortez, Mancos, and Telluride. The only negatives we had were that the loft area was somewhat dusty with a resident spider and there wasn’t any way to walk along the river, as the banks were too rocky and obscured by brush and trees. Overall, it was a really nice place to get away and enjoy the nature and mountain towns of Southwestern Colorado. Thanks for sharing this great place to stay.

A River Runs Through It
The large windows looking out over the W. Fork Delores River provided a very special view from sunup to sunset. We both took a try at fly-fishing. No luck, but near rookies holding the fly rod! Very relaxing and refreshing place to stay.
