Located in the outbuildings of the vineyard of Sonnay Castle, classified AOC Chinon, within the walls of its park, the Relais de Sonnay offers a hamlet composed of 3 furnished tourist, restored in a spirit of upscale respectful of traditional materials and know-how: tufa stone, lime, sand plaster, steel, terracotta floors, oak, beech or cedar wood. Independent and autonomous, they are designed to be occupied in a flexible way: separately or grouped.
Here you are offered the second of them, "the mound of Wilhelm de Sonnay", with a capacity of 4 persons: a space of 140 m² spread over 2 levels, with small independent terrace to the south, large open-space on the ground floor with kitchen equipped with a cooking piano, under an open mezzanine with 1 bedroom -cool with queensize bed 160, 1 bedroom-alcove with 2 beds of 90 beds, 2 bathrooms with showers 'Italian & wc + 1 independent toilet, and a large living space on the ground floor can be used as living room to receive the occupants of other housing in case of group rental.
The service includes all services useful to the comfort of a stay in furnished 4 * classified, namely the supply of sheets (made beds) and linens, wifi and telephone (a box and a line independent per house), electricity and heating, the necessary household and consumables of use, a small bottom of groceries, the vat and the taxes of stay, as well as the cleaning of exit and some small welcome gifts ... La Motte Castle Sonnay August 2019
We can not fault this property. It was extremely clean and tidy on arrival, and we were met by Frederic who is charming and explained everything we needed to know to make our stay an enjoyable one. The location of the property is ideal if you want a relaxing holiday, but is close enough to Chinon, approx. 10 mins drive, where you can find plenty of restaurants to enjoy or simply walk around the medieval parts of the town which are a delight. The property itself is set in the grounds of the Chateau with views across the vineyards and an outside "patio" area where you can choose to relax with a glass of Chinon wine if you so wish ! The road is not busy whatsoever, so there is not any traffic noise at all. The property has a large open plan feel to it, with two large bedrooms with ensuite facilities and walk in shower, together with a further wc downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed. The wi-fi in the property works well if you need to connect.
The property has been restored to a very high standard and has been sympathetically done to fit in with its surroundings. The decoration, lighting, furniture all seem to compliment each other. It is clear that the owner, Frederic, has dedicated a lot of time and energy to the property to ensure that it provides a high standard of accommodation for guests - his efforts have not gone unrewarded and he should be proud of what he has achieved. I can not find any fault with the property at all and would be unable to suggest anything to improve upon it.
In summary we would certainly return and would highly recommend the property if you are considering a stay in the area.
5 stars all round from us and one of the best properties we have stayed at.

Outstanding property, location, stylish accomodation, well equipped and great host
Enjoyed a relaxing family holiday with our teenage children, things for all to enjoy. Cycling, visiting chateau's and wine cellars, or just relaxing and enjoying the peace of La Motte.
The host is always available to help and guide on local places to visit, with significant knowledge of local history. He could not have been more welcoming.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and equipped to a high level, with the design and styling of the interior helping create an overall enjoyable place to spend time.
