Found by chance as needed somewhere to stay after visiting a Christmas Lights event. Under new management 3 weeks ago and undergoing refurbishment. The bar and restaurant gave been revamped and a cozy atmosphere and good food. The rooms are a little tired but a work in progress and have a lot of potential. The bed was comfy and the room was adequate for our stay. The breakfast was delicious abd a good choice on the menu
Friendly and helpful staff and will definitely go back.
This stay was absolutely amazing. The rooms are great, beds comfortable and the food was simply fabulous!
What really sets this Inn above others is the wonderful and caring staff! Two staff members were particularly noteworthy.
Our evening hostess was Ashley. She was unbelievably awesome, bubbly but also attentive, friendly and efficient. Wow!
Our morning hostess was Christine. Again, wow! She was yet another lovely and friendly lady that had booked an amazing table for our anniversary supper the first night!
As a side point, the food was also fantastic!!!
Top notch. We will be recommending The Pig in the Parlour to our friends and family!
Traffic a bit noisy, and room very hot meaning I had to have the window open. Its a busy road but the morning sun woke me too early, and trucks are very noisy.
Pizzas in the restaurant not as good as they were a few years ago.
The room was excessively hot. Not much they could do, very hot night and the tower fan provided couldn’t really cope.
Breakfast was frustrating. Paid in advance for two English breakfasts but when choosing a cheaper option from the menu (wasn’t made clear there were alternative options than that given in advance) nothing could be done.
This was an excellent place for a 1-night layover! Uou have to walk through the pub to get to the reception area, but I was greeted promptly ang help with my bags up the steps to my cosy room. Check in was super fast, as there was no wait.
I got dinner which was extremely tasty! Beyter than I expected and a huge portion. I didn't get breakfast as I had to leave early for the airport. The staff called to arrange an early taxi pick-up which I greatly appreciated as I only had international data access.
The room was super well laid out and clean. The bed and bedding was exceptionally comfortable. I am a very light sleeper, so this and the blackout drapes helped. There is no phone in the room, but there was one in the corridor. Staff were not on hand early in the morning so I had to manoeuvre suitcases down 1 flight of steps. I was able to simply leave keys to checkout. I will stay here again unless I have more luggage. I was travelling with one medium suitcase, one carry-on suitcase and a back pack. Tge wifi worked excellently as well. I will rate this place a 9/10.
Staff were wonderful, room was quirky, cannot fault

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Run down, Drab and not what it used to be.
Sadly, Martson have let the place run into the ground. What used to be a beautiful pub with EXCELLENT food, is now drab, run down and average at best. Food was weak, drinks were meh, prices still reflected an A* pub.
rooms had light bulbs out, flakey paint, holes in walls, noisy floorboards in the rooms above.
Overall it's not terrible, it's just run down and needs some life putting back into it.
