Modern, large cottage in a tranquil setting
Nestled on the edge of a large village, this converted cottage had everything we needed. Four large bedrooms (three up, one down), two bathrooms with walk-in showers, a big kitchen, huge sunroom/lounge and vast garden with a stone barbecue. The modern touches such as electrically-operated blinds and fancy under-counter touch-controlled lighting are classy.Initial minor confusion about check-in / access (through VRBO messaging, in French) was quickly dispelled as we pulled up on the enormous gravel frontage, and discovered the door unlocked. Our host Nathalie arrived and brought some local cider. Then came the unexpected insistence on a cash deposit, despite taking out insurance with Vrbo. I was lucky to have 250 in my wallet. The second surprise came later, when we discovered there were no towels to be found, so it was back to the supermarket just before it closed at 7:30pm.All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay. The well-appointed kitchen had all the glassware, pots, cutlery and plates you could want but lacked a few basic supplies – e.g. no salt or sugar. Hot water was powerful and plentiful, and the downstairs shower was the best I’ve used in a long time. Sitting at the garden table outside was a joy, especially when the nagging wind dropped.I can heartily recommend this cottage. It’s just over an hour south to Mont St Michel, or the D-Day museums, the other way. But bring your towels, your own pillows and that cash deposit!
