My wife and I stayed at the Dusit Davao for 7 days in August, 2024. It was our 2nd visit; we also stayed in August, 2023. The staff are mostly friendly and seem to smile. That is the extent of the positive experience. Unfortunately, the majority of it was very disappointing with several significant issues. 1. Many areas are moldy and dirty. Dead cockroaches are common (we saw some in the same place for the entire duration of our stay). 2. The balcony areas were not cleaned well, if at all. There is a significant amount of dirt, bird poop and grime from the air conditioning units & did not appear touched the whole stay. 3. The air conditioner vent leaked so bad that water was pouring into the kitchen area. This occurred twice. The 1st time the engineering staff cleaned it but did nothing to fix it so it was not a surprise it happened again. The 2nd time, following additional prodding, it may have been fixed but we left shortly thereafter so who knows. Judging by the mildew and worn paint near the vent this was not the 1st time it happened. 4. The service is painfully slow for a 4 star property. It was common for a coffee in the lobby lounge to take 20 minutes. Food orders were met with a response noting "it will take 20-35 mins" but it was often almost an hour; even for basic menu items. 5. Housekeeping unable to provide clean washcloths daily. 6. Zero concern by staff of how the stay was; never asked & when issues were noted they did not seem to care.

Hotel is good but not as good as it was when I was last here 2 years ago :( I feel that the maintenance of the hotel is not as it should be which i think need be addressed. Otherwise the staff are very kind and attentive :)

Once inside the front gate the property is beautiful and clean. The staff is well trained, polite and extremely friendly and helpful. The pool is amazing, the food is good. Not much to see beyond the property walls. Best to get a courtyard room and enjoy the oasis they have created.

Unacceptable service for this price point
The service was appalling for an international hotel at this price point, and I would have given zero stars if possible. Checking in late, I was give a wrong room type. Didn’t complain at checkin as after midnight, but contacted the hotel directly by email following day. Received confirmation of receipt email, but never any response. Receptionist was unaware of issue when I returned and only grudgingly transferred me to the correct room type (no apology or consideration). Being tired from late travel and check in, I declined room cleaning at 9am but was surprised that room was not attended when returning at 7pm. Pool closes super early (8pm) Sitting at pool bar, there were no attendants, and I had to go look for one (2 other couples were waiving for attention) even thought this was the only part of the pool bar area that had guests. When attendant finally appeared, he took the order wrong. After returning, he was unaware that a gin-tonic also required tonic (not just gin) Hotel and room is OK, but service is terrible given the price point. Not coming back

Shower drain was clogged Sink drain was clogged Front desk clerk did not post my payment for incidentals expenses to my room. Therefore i could not charge my expenses to my room. We were seated at dinner table that was known to be broken. This is true because the Server told us "Sorry, but the screw is missing." The receipt for the meal did not print legibly because the ink ribbon has run out of ink. Hence could not read the receipt. We were instructed the New Years Eve event was formal attire. But witnessed people there in tanktops, cutoff shorts, and other non-formal attire. Very substandard for the cost. Should have stayed at OYO.

Stay away! Bad hotel!
This is NOT a 4 star hotel. It should be rated 1 star. The entire hotel has a very bad smell, starting with the front lobby. We were there a total of 8 nights but had to switch rooms three (3) times because of issues. Our first room on the 6th floor was so smelly that we could not take it anymore and had to move. The person who cleaned our room told us that there have been complaints about the entire floor for a long time. We had to go to a store and buy 4 room fresheners, bleach, and other cleaning supplies; and used them to clean our own room. Our second room was on the 4th floor. Our sinks in the bathroom both leaked, so did our toilet. Plus the entire room still had a bad stench. I believe that the toilet leaked sewer gas into the room. At one point in time, it was so bad that we finally had maintenance re-caulk the toilet… which obviously they would not have done if we did not complain and if the smell was not atrocious. I finally had enough and asked the assistant manager on duty to move us, and then we were off to our third room. When we were there the entire bathroom mirror is lined with mold. The walls are cinder block and there are gaps where it is not even sealed or caulked. Of course the room still had a very bad smell; but at least we had our room fresheners and cleaning supplies. The hotel is shaped like a big “U” with the interior courtyard really being the pool—which nobody can or should use because hundreds of birds use it as a toilet. It’s awful.
