Super charming grounds, rooms could use some fixes
The ranch is a very charming and unique hotel, a green oasis in the middle of the desert! The grounds contain everything you need, from a restaurant to a general store (with groceries) and museum. The rooms, however, were running a bit outdated - and both the bathroom heater and the toilet were broken in ours.

Oasis in the middle of Death Valley
We loved our hotel stay at the Ranch. It’s like a small little town in Death Valley with places to eat at and stores to shop at. They have a nice heated pool that is open year round until 11pm. There’s tennis courts, basketball courts and even a playground which my 4 year old loves! Our room was nice and cozy with a small little patio area that led to the playground. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and dinner. The beds are not as comfortable as we expected but room was nice and clean. They did not refill the body wash and conditioner so make sure before getting in the shower that those things are filed up. The guy who checked us in is extremely professional and nice. Overall we will definitely stay here again next time we go to Death Valley.

Poor maintenance and not very clean. Had to ask to vacuum room before we moved in. Needs some TLC. Staff left soiled linens out all night.

The location in Death Valley National Park was fantastic. We appreciated the variety of dining options available and the convenience of the general store. We stayed in a cottage which was a bit snug for four adults, but we all found the beds to be very comfortable. Overall, we had a pleasant experience.

Amenity was bad. No paper cup and few tissue paper. I bought this item. And no telephone in this room and no hotel information, too.

We stayed two nights on December 15th and 16th at The Ranch. The hotel’s amenities and location are indeed excellent for exploring Death Valley, but my check-in experience overshadowed those positives. For context, I am an Asian female, my boyfriend is a white male, and the booking of the hotel was entirely under my name. Upon arriving at the front desk, the attendant (a white male) initially spoke directly to me, as my boyfriend was standing behind me. However, after I briefly conferred with my boyfriend about our parked car, the attendant suddenly shifted his attention entirely to him—ignoring my attempts to engage or make eye contact. This continued until the end of the conversation, when he wished my boyfriend a pleasant stay, without ever acknowledging me again, despite the fact that I was the one who made and paid for the reservation. This behavior was shocking and felt rooted in racism and/or sexism, which is completely unacceptable from any staff member—especially in hospitality, where guests should always be treated respectfully. Such treatment stands in stark contrast to the welcoming environment I expected and detracted significantly from what should have been a comfortable experience. I truly hope the hotel addresses this issue and ensures that all guests receive the courtesy they deserve.

For the busiest time of the year , they were grossly understaffed . The check in process is painful . No daily housekeeping which annoys me especially since they charge a resort fee.

Way overpriced for what it actually is. This is more of a low budget roadside motel than a resort as they label it. For $300 per night you would expect to have something that provides a higher value. The overall state of the rooms and buildings needs a lot of love to say the least, carpets are worn, everything smells old and moldy, rooms are not completely clean, the bathroom in our room smelled like pee. Some other people have complained about ACs being too loud, not the case in what we experienced, AC and fridge were working fine. The restaurants on site are extremely overpriced and the quality is subpar, but, as it happens with the hotel as well, there is nothing around for miles so you have to take what they offer or bring your own food. Grounds are well kept and nice, safe ti walk around, although very dark to walk at night, there are no street lights so use a flashlight or your cell phone to light the way. I would not stay here again, I'd rather drive a couple.of hours and stay somewhere else next time we're at death valley.

I understand you pay more to stay in a National Park but what youy pay to stay here is way over priced for what you get. You'd be better off staying in Stovepipe Wells. I only stayed here for one night and have a laundry list of complaints. First, we went to have dinner at the Ice Cream Parlor and they dropped my Double Cheeseburger on the ground and said they'd have to remake it. However, 20 minutes passed while my friends had already eaten all their food. I finally walked back up to see where my cheeseburger was and the person obviously forgot and went right back and grabbed it. It was luke warm by this point. Not wanting to wait another 20 minutes I ate it and left. Upon leaving the ice cream parlor I slipped and almost fell in some child's vomit right out side the door. He obviously had too much ice cream. How this was not cleaned up or at least marked is crazy and gross. Then walking back to my room in the night time lighting I stepped in a puddle on the walkway deep enough to wet my socks. There was no warning, lighting, or way to tell this puddle existed. At least my shoes now had the vomit from earlier washed off them. After changing and heading over to the pool to relax I found the pool had no clean towels like they advertised. Instead there was a pile of used, dirty towels piled up in a corner of the bathroom at least 4 feet tall. So I had to go get one of the towels from my room to use. I've stayed in MUCH better $140 hotels, this was $340!

The location is the best. The food from the 2 restaurants is ok. One minus point is that the sound proof of my room is not very efficient. If you have noisy neighbor like I had on the last night, it was hard to have good sleep.
