The grand country mansion house, Ross-shire Hall is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion with family or friends. This incredible Grade II listed building, dating back to the 1700’s, has been brought back to life by the current owners and offers luxurious comforts as well as characterful nods to its fascinating past. It is documented in the village records that President Franklin D Roosevelt and Eleanor spent part of the honeymoon staying at the house. This magical building stands proud in six acres of glorious gardens and woodland near the village of Evanton in the Scottish Highlands. Its location is perfect for day trips to the Cairngorms, Caithness and Sutherland, the west coast of Scotland, the beautiful Black Isle and the gentle shores of Loch Ness. It is a great base for exploring the popular NC500 route while offering total tranquility and seclusion. This unspoiled area of natural beauty is home to much wildlife and you are likely to see pheasant and deer in the garden and buzzards and red kites flying above. There are opportunities for fishing, shooting, cycling, horse riding, watersports, white water rafting, quad biking, dolphin spotting and sea kayaking. As soon as you start your drive through the well-tended grounds of Ross-shire Hall and approach this beautiful building with its turrets, grand outer staircase and immense character, you know you are in for a treat. With seven beautifully presented bedroom suites, three reception rooms and a large kitchen, Ross-shire Hall is wonderful for family and friend get togethers. You will relax in the atmospheric, panelled drawing room in front of a blazing fire, dine like royalty and dive deep into slumber in the crispest of cottons and softest of duvets. The outdoors steps take you to the entrance hall and living spaces on the first floor. The drawing room is the perfect place for pre-dinner drinks or a late-night dram of whisky in front of the fire. With panelling all around, gorgeous window seats and sumptuous sofas, it is a great spot. The dining area is also lovely with plenty of character and classic styling. Next to the drawing room is the sitting room, a lovely space where you can disappear with a pot of tea and the Sunday newspapers. On the lower ground floor, you will discover the third reception room where you can relax watching a movie on Netflix or playing family games. The kitchen is absolutely fabulous with both an Aga and a range cooker. It is perfect for self-catering or else you can let someone else take over and enjoy your break away from the oven. There is a handy breakfast table too.
There are four bedrooms on the upper floor and three on the lower ground floor. They all enjoy superior super king-size beds, four of which can be set up as twin beds. In addition, there are a number of cots and fold-away beds for young children that can be used. Every bedroom enjoys its own en-suite bathroom. The bedrooms are elegant, spacious havens where you will enjoy sumptuous furnishings and beautiful garden views. Some enjoy neutral decor while others enjoy bright colour pop feature walls that match the rugs on the floor and other warm accessories. Each bedroom enjoys its own character and every guest will be delighted with their room. The bathrooms are beautifully maintained, with a mix of baths and showers.

Ross-shire Hall enjoys a fabulous location close to the village of Evanton, 15 miles north of Inverness, 4 miles south west of Alness and 6 miles north east of Dingwall. Evanton enjoys the Fyrish monument, the Black Rock Gorge and a good selection of shops, restaurants and cafes. Those that love shopping can fill their suitcases with cashmere knits, woollens, tweeds, glassware, ceramics, jewellery, art, antiques, cheese, chocolate, gin and whisky, all bought locally.
The location makes it very easy to visit quiet Highland beaches, lush green landscapes brimming with waterfalls, challenging hills and mountains and historic buildings. A day trip to Aviemore, an hour from the house, brings the thrills of white water rafting, skiing, quad biking, an aerial adventure course and various watersports. Those that love the water can take a RIB boat trip to spot dolphins in the Cromarty Firth or on Loch Ness. You can also canoe on the River Beauly or sea kayak in the Firth. If you want to enjoy a fishing session, you will be delighted to find picturesque locations on the River Alness or the Conon with excellent trout and salmon fishing. Guided fishing trips and hire of equipment can all be arranged. There are also fantastic golf courses within easy reach of Ross-shire Hall including Royal Dornoch, Castle Stewart and Fortrose and Rosemarkie. Clay Pigeon shoots can be arranged on the Brahan Estate, 20 minutes away.
The Ross-shire countryside is beautiful. The house sits close to the Cromarty Firth and The Black Isle. A few minutes walk up from the house brings you to sensational views of the majestic Ben Wyvis and further, the serene beauty of Loch Glass. Black Rock Gorge is just a short stroll from the house, famous as its featured in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Dornoch is just under an hour away with its stunning cathedral, its breathtaking sandy beach, its Royal Dornoch Golf course and its wonderful shops, restaurants and bars. The links golf course has been played on since the 16th century. You might like to take a look in The Carnegie Whisky Cellars while you are there. On the way there or on the way back, you may like to stop at the Whisky Distillery at Glenmorangie or at the famous ANTA Pottery and Tain Pottery studios.
A trip to Loch Ness is popular. There you can enjoy a boat cruise, stopping at the ruins of Urquhart Castle. The Black Isle is also beautiful with plenty of quaint seaside villages, smoked fish shops, craft shops and cute cafes as well as its own Black Isle Brewery where you can stop and taste the beer. Other trips that guests enjoy are to the west coast and in particular, the picturesque town of Ullapool, Caithness and the Castle of Mey and Dunrobin Castle.
