Beautiful historic property. Clean room, comfortable chair and bed. Jacuzzi tub was excellent. View from upper balcony was great. Comfortable seating on the upper balcony. Self check in. Good breakfast of pastries and coffee/tea.
This is a very interesting house to stay in with lots of charm! Much more homey than a hotel. The parking is easy and convenient. I didn't go to Duluth to go out every night, but to relax and recharge. There was a lot of opportunity for that! The only downside is you can hear every time another guest comes into the house. It makes it hard to sleep before midnight or later. Just part of staying in an old house with two flights of creaky steps.
We had an amazing stay, at this gorgeous historic property! I love the aspect of just letting ourselves in, felt so much like coming home to a beautiful top floor apartment of our own! We were in town visiting family and wanted our own place close by, and this was perfect! Loved the homemade breakfast pastries, and made coffee in our room, but there was a whole big pot ready for us downstairs in the piano room. Just so beautiful, and the big windows offered incredible views of the leaves changing colors from the big front porch and our room! Loved the hot tub after a long day hiking and visiting! Thank you so much for providing a unique, historical experience, so much better than a generic hotel! Will for sure stay again!
The room was nice, but much smaller than the pictures lead me to believe. Our room was up three flights of stairs in the back corner of the house, so you should let people know there is no elevator. The clealiness was not great in our room, the whirlpool tub had a lot of hair in it and there were broken binders on the night table. Still gave it a four cause it was nice and an experience. Not to happy with yhe cleanliness of the room though.
Absolutely beautiful property. No one was present on site and I had to dig in my email to find key codes. It was good but a little disorienting.

Liked: Room comfort
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
We stayed at this property many times in the past as a B&B and were always happy with the condition and cleanliness. This stay, not so much. The room was dusty, the floor had paint chips scattered on the floor in the window area, the trim on the skylight window looked like it was about to fall off, and the water from the bathroom sink was brown. The color of the water did clear after running for about 10 minutes. The bathroom sink also drains very slowly. All of these items were minor, but if a room has not been rented in a while, it might be good practice to do a quick check before it is occupied. A positive for our room….the bed was very comfortable!
For starters, what a grand old house.
The attention to details is a bit lacking for instance, the hair on the hardwood floor by the radiators, the dust on the bar fridge and ceiling fan. Topping it off was the 2 wet face clothes in the shower which was covered in hair along with the razor left for the next guest!!!
Other than that the bed was comfortable, and the sheets were clean.....I think!!
This was a very cute well cared for property.
The shower was strong and hot, and the bed was super comfortable. It’s really high off the ground though!
In room coffee, glasses for whisky and wine, and a real corkscrew!
Beautiful closed in porch for relaxing, and an huge open deck right outside our room. Nice furniture, fancy decor, and easy access.
This boutique mansion was exactly what I wanted!
The property was absolutely beautiful! It’s on a quiet street with ample parking. My only complaint was the bathroom cleanliness. I found hair on the floor and in the shower and the tub was slow to drain.
This property was lovingly cared for, demonstrating good craftsmanship and tasteful detailing. It is located on a cul de sac, besides a stream. It is quiet. Even other guests and squeaky floors didn't disturb the peace, quiet, and serenity. Great neighborhood for walking around and viewing all the other mansions. Don't expect much in the way of breakfast and you will be very pleased with the accommodations.
We had a wonderful stay at the GG Barnum Mansion in the Jay Cooke suite. The room was large and the bed was ver comfortable. The large shower was a dream we appreciated the little extra touches, like information about restaurants, filled ice cube trays, water bottles and although we didn’t use it—there was even a bag of microwave popcorn for us! I would highly recommend a stay here if you’re in Duluth.
