A true oasis
After being in three overcrowded and tourist-choked cities in France (Paris) and Spain (Barcelona and Valencia), the “Venta del Alano” in Durcal (close to Granada) was an oasis in every way. First, the house sits at the edge of a very quiet small town a short distance from Granada. The house is extra spacious, with a big kitchen, living room, dining room, 3 bedrooms (two with AC), two bathrooms (one is humungous), large landscaped patio, pool, wrap around terrace with patio furniture. Don’t be fooled by the rural aspect of the street as you enter, once you open the gates you are in paradise. Although a small town, it has supermarkets, bakeries, a few tapas/pintxos bars. The house is a block away from a gas station where the attendant pumps your gas (yes!) and a casual restaurant full of surprises. The host is an amicable dude ready to assist you anytime (he lives closely). In general, if you enjoy quiet and comfortable evenings after a day of fighting tourists in Granada or Malaga, this is the place.
