Older hotel that was close to transportation

Pros: It did have character
Cons: Put non-slip strips on the shower floors. Elevator would be nice, but realize that is probably out of the question. Stairs need to be identifiable
Location: Close to transportation. Convenience store was around the corner. Long walk to get to a nice restaurant
Our room was on the 3rd floor and not very accommodating for people that are of the Senior Citizen variety as there was no elevator and we had to walk up three flights of stairs to get to our room carrying 70 pound suitcases. Steps on the stairs were all carpeted and it was difficult to see where a step was. I missed a step going down and fell to the floor on my knee and bruising my left arm on the hand railing. Shower floor was not treated with a non-slip product and was extremely slippery making it difficult to take a shower and move around without falling down.

Pros: Pleasant staff; clean and comfortable room; nice and quiet; generous amount of milk supplied in room
Location: Within walking distance of the middle of the city.
Friendly staff and nice welcome with clear information on arrival. I only stayed for one night but the room and en suite were clean, well furnished, comfortable and, even with the window open, very quiet (I couldn't hear any traffic). The generous amounts of coffee and milk supplied in the room were appreciated. Would definitely stay here again. I walked into Princes Street and enjoyed it as the weather was pleasant. Otherwise, the tram service is close and easy to reach.

Wir hatten ein Kellerzimmer (viele Häuser im Quartier haben bewohnte Kellerzimmer, welche ein Fenster auf einen Treppenabgang von der Strasse haben). Das macht das Zimmer zwar etwas dunkler, aber man kann über die Strasse hinein und es scheint ein Besonderheit zu sein (vielleicht nur bei diesen Art Häuser am Haymarket. Sehr lobenswert für Ebookers war, dass Ebookers uns 40 CHF recht unkompliziert (nach einem Anruf) zurückerstattet hat, weil der angegebene Preis nicht dem verrechneten Preis entsprach. Ist vielleicht an einer zwischenzeitlichen Preisanpassung (zwischen Buchung und Verrechnung) gelegen. Wir hatten einen Screenshot des Onlinepreises bei der Buchung gemacht. Eher zufällig. Wir werde das aber in Zukunft immer machen, denn man fühlt sich sonst übers Ohr gehauen, wenn die Kreditkarte höher belastet wird als angegebenem Preis.

I liked the Victorian house and also the decoration. It was not close enough for a quick trip. The shower was really nice and the bed comfy.

Sehr unkompliziertes und freundliches Personal. Zimmer sehr grosszügig und zweckmässig eingerichtet. Gute Lage. Zu Fuss in 20 Minuten im Zentrum.

Établissement bien placé à la décoration soigné. Chambre spacieuse et propre. Le seul hic, nous étions dans une chambre au rez de chaussé et c'était très bruyant. (bruit de la rue et des autres clients dans l'entrée). Sinon nous avons passé un très bon séjour

Sanitaires pas du tout à la hauteur…

Pros: La localisation
Cons: Sanitaires, toute la tuyauterie et l'alimentation en eau !
Joli hôtel dans un immeuble classique d'Edimbourg à deux pas de la station de tram Haymarket, donc très pratique pour aller à l'aéroport p.ex. et pas loin du centre historique. Grosse déception concernant les sanitaires: débit et pression de la douche complètement faible (impossible pour ma compagne de laver ses cheveux longs !), probablement en raison de la vétusteté de la tuyauterie… Et mauvaise surprise: l'évacuation des WC était bouché lors de notre arrivée, et nous avons dû le signaler avant que cela ne soit corrigé (pourtant on s'attendrait à ce que l'employé de nettoyage le remarque lorsqu'il nettoie les WC !).
