The hotel was in a great location and it was easy to check in/out. Staff were friendly. The room was good for the price, however the floor was uneven and squeaky. The furniture was cramped in some areas. The walls are quite thin and it was easy to hear conversation of others who were in the rooms next door. There is currently a lot of renovation going on which we were unaware of so if you don’t mind gaps in ceilings and ladders you’ll be ok.

Room are clean with a quality feel to them however, they are now starting to show the sign of their age through wear and tear, headboards are worn out, finishings and furnishings are showing signs significant wear.

It was an over night stay visiting Edinburgh Christmas markets and castle with my sister. The foyer of the hotel was very nicely decorated and the reception staff were pleasant but the rest of the stay wasn’t. The dining room was cold and the bar staff looked liked they’d rather be elsewhere, no Christmas decorations, no Christmas music and certainly no Christmas cheer there. We didn’t eat there because of this and went across the road where the Christmas service was exceptional. Also one of the lifts didn’t have any lights in it. I know they were doing building work in the hotel, but they really could have made some Christmas effort.

Lovely hotel with friendly and accomodating staff. Room was spacious and quiet and hotel is conveniently situated within central Edinburgh so you can walk to most attractions.

Very convenient to the Edinburgh Castle and most attractions, important for those who have never been to Edinburgh, it’s very hilly with lots of steps, this place is on a route that’s very accessible and relatively flat and you won’t smoke yourself carrying luggage.

The staff was wonderful, the confusion in reaching/ returning to room due to construction very frustrating also, it would've been great to be oriented to how the power works, ex..the entire power grid to the room was turned off everyday after cleaning. Room would be fridged upon return.. Americans do not function in this manner. Power is aways present, no steps needed.
