Charged a fee for getting into the room early. Didn’t cost them anything to let us in an hour early, however. Hotel smelled of mildew and was noisy. Staff couldn’t have cared less when I complained.
A great area close to the Royal Mile. Nice staff and great breakfast. Our room was clean, but the AC was poor and the room has a musty smell. Some of the carpet was not even attached to the floor. Overall a good place to stay but expensive for what you get.
The Leonardo is located right between old and new Edinburgh. It was very convenient to walk up to the Royal mile and tour old town. We could also go out the front and walk straight into Newtown. There was also a taxi stand immediately in front of the hotel, which was convenient. The breakfast was an additional 15 pounds per day, but it was definitely worth it. It was a large buffet with excellent selections. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant were amazing. The rooms were spacious. It was larger than a lot of hotels that I’ve stayed in in Europe. The bathroom was a little tight, but the shower was big enough for me to lift my arms which is not always the case in Europe.
Lovely place - restaurant on premises for breakfast buffet (included with room for small fee) as well as dinner. Very nice staff - super helpful. Room was very comfortable and stylish with a touch of oak and plaid - nicely suited to Scotland!
Too expensive for what it was. Very ordinary jotel and staff but one that charges luxury prices. We had to ask 3x to get our room serviced one day. Not terrible but you can do better just a few blocks further from the train Stn.
Check in is strict, no help providing an earlier room. Our room smelled awful. hotel location was great & convenient to everything.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
This is a mixed review bc we lived the lication, quality of the property, staff, etc. They are obviously having some issues which are probably temporary and related to the construction next door. There was a smell of sewage when we opened our room door each time. Annoying. Water was out for a couple hours one day. Annoying. But, the room was beautiful and comfortable, in a GREAT location.
This hotel was amazing. The staff was top notch! We stayed there for three nights. The morning after our first night, we were awakened at 8:00 by the sound of construction next door. Will at the front desk was able to move us to a quieter room for the rest of our stay. The location was close to the Royal Mile and so convenient to everything. And the breakfasts were delicious with a lot of variety. We felt ready to tour Edinburgh!
Loved this hotel from the friendly welcome at reception to the dining and complimentary drinks. I really loved all the small details and amenities in the room. Espresso, tea, extra luxury toiletries, bathrobe and slippers, and great AC/heat control made our experience wonderful. Train is a few minutes walk as is the Royal mile. Perfect location. The only thing is the heavy construction noise from very early on the morning.
