UP ON MAIN - a charming historic apartment in the heart of Eureka Springs

This beautifully unique space is the (completely private) upper floor of a very grand old building right in the vibrant heart of Eureka Springs. Originally opened in 1885 as Harp’s Grocery, the building has long been a fixture in the coolest, most distinctive historic town in the Ozarks. Now updated with modern amenities, you’ll find it to be an absolute haven where your crew can relax and have a blast together. World class dining, galleries, shopping and more are all within easy walking distance; it’s just a block or two to many of the very best attractions of Eureka Springs.

Bedroom one has a queen size bed, a large flatscreen TV with an expansive cable package, and a gorgeous private balcony overlooking Main Street, a truly magical spot to simply sit and chill in the evening when the twinkle lights come on.

Bedroom two has a full size bed with a large flatscreen TV with DVD player and a super rad Nintendo gaming system that plays the original Nintendo NES games as well as Super Nintendo games. We have an awesome selection of vintage games here where you can geek out and get your nostalgia fix. Original Nintendo games include: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3, Paperboy 2, and Kirby’s Adventure. Super Nintendo games include: Super Mario World and Legend of Zelda. Each game has its own labeled spot on the shelf - please return them to their places when you check out!

The bathroom is a stunning space with a deep soaking tub/shower combo under a windowed cupola. There’s also a washer and dryer here for your convenience.

In the kitchen you’ll find a full complement of standard appliances and accessories, including a full size fridge, a coffee maker, a gas range/oven, a toaster oven, a microwave, plenty of plates/bowls/utensils/flatware, and a bar with two barstools. The dining area looks down over Leatherwood Creek, a tributary of the White River which now flows both openly and under Main Street in a long tunnel, a mysterious aspect of the mysterious Eureka Underground. The babbling of the creek below melts stress away and puts you directly in touch with nature.

In the living room you’ll find a flatscreen TV with DVD player and a widely varied collection of around 50 DVDs, plus a large selection of books, an acoustic guitar, board games, puzzles, etc. So much entertainment!

The porch off of the living room is where you enter the property - it’s a few steps above your designated parking spot on Jackson Street. You’ll know you’re at the right place when you see the lime green door!

From the porch you can look down into Leatherwood Creek - it’s absolutely stunning!!! If you’re bringing more than one vehicle, there are low cost, easily accessible paid parking lots less than a block away in each direction.

Great place to stay in the Eureka Historic District
Wonderful location. FYI - this place is old, so don't expect a modern unit. Lots of room. It can be a bit loud, but worth it to be downtown. Pet friendly was key even though our Chihuahua wouldn't stay alone. He's a good bar buddy, though. 😄 Check in was a breeze and owner was very helpful. We would stay here again.

Amazing place, incredible location!
Our house is being remodeled and the dust was everywhere! It was also my birthday week so we planned it last minute for three days in the middle of the week. First off, the place is dog friendly. You got me at that. Gets better...Matt the owner and host was amazingly nice and accommodating, considering the last minute booking! The home is super cute and the furnishings are amazing! Check out his pics for that. It felt like home the entire time and if you dig downtown Eureka (we do) it's a super close walk to all of the best shopping, restaurants and nightlife. 5 stars out of 5! We'll be back again!

From the moment we pulled up to the back porch I knew we would love this historic apartment! The back is cozy with only a few neighbors and the front is a narrow 2 lane hwy where you sit on the balcony and watch people and traffic, lol. There was everything and more than we needed that was included in the apartment. The sky light and big tub in the bathroom are a WOW ! Up on Main is everything it should be and fits in to Eureka Springs perfectly !! Cudos!! P.S theres an ice cream shop very very close and be prepared to walk up hills to get most anywhere.

Great location!
Location is perfect for downtown activities. The space was beautiful and very comfortable. Every bathroom should have a huge skylight. One bedroom is a walk through to get to the other bedroom but we only needed one bedroom so not an issue for us, just worth noting depending on who you're traveling with.

Up on Main
The place was clean and close to the main shopping area. However out of 3 tvs in it there was only one room that had regular channels and that was in the master bedroom. The other rooms were for games or DVD s. One main setback was that there was supposed to be a AC repair scheduled to be done that took half the day, the house was hot for two to three hours later. Didn’t know it was going to take that long.

A Good Stay After a Rocky Start
My grown daughter and I went to Eureka for a few days of r&r. We had some confusion about entering the property but once that was straightened out, we had a great visit. The property suited our needs quite well. It was close to all the activities downtown and everything was within walking distance. A nice visit.

Highly recommend
We stayed at Down on Main one Christmas and fell in love with the property and the town so decided to check it out without the snow. We wanted to stay in UP on Main this time and I love both levels of this building. Matt is a stellar host and the house is lovely. Located right in the heart of the town within walking distance of everything. The Trolleys are so convenient and you must take the Tram tour. There is so much to do here and it's beautiful in May. We are planning our next trip to this quirky, friendly and beautiful town and will want to again stay in one of Matt's properties. 10 out of 10!

Perfect Location!
If you like staying in historic and unique places, Up On Main will fit the bill. Right in the middle of historic downtown and within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants, we still enjoyed privacy on the porch/backside entry. We stayed for a month and fixed a lot of our meals at home, too, and there was sufficient kitchenwares for this. The owner was quick to respond to any messages although I think we only contacted him twice in the whole month. Highly recommend.
