The Royal Beacon has an old world charm which goes with its age (200?). Unfortunately the hotel has creaky floors which also match its age. Doors are sprung to close abruptly; picture hanging bumpers might reduce the annoyance of regularly slamming doors. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Nice stay
Good experience, we were in a courtyard room , which was fine as we had two dogs. We brought our own crate out of courtesy , the hotel provided blanket , poo bags , treats and water bowl for our dogs- a nice touch The entrance to the stairway to the rooms was a bit tired , but no issue as it’s direct access from outside . The room was fine , had everything we needed . So happy We used the bar , it was ok too

the hotel needs some investment to bring it up to scratch The drain in the wet room was slow to clear and thus flooded the bathroom area. The noise was from the gulls and not much you can do about that but they were very loud.

Damp smell, mouldy shower and bad night sleep
Good location for access to the beach and town. Check in/out was easy. The room and entire floor smelt of damp, there was rust and mould present in the bathroom. Furniture was damaged but still functional. Bedding and pillows were uncomfortable. A Premier Inn is nearby with rooms available for £40-£50 more and would be my choice instead.

The cleaniness of the room was poor with the bathroom floor being dusty and the top of the wardrobe looking like it has never been dusted. We only found out when we took down our case. The room had not been serviced with towels only been changed once and the sheets not been changed at all. Otherwise we were very happy with the stay.

Comfortable but in serious need of renovation.
Very dated rooms in urgent requirement of renovation. Everything stained and damaged, bed was comfy and clean. Bathroom again needs updating, was clean. Staff friendly, fantastic location and great view, shame the windows were covered in bird poo and obscuring the view.
