Newly renovated, Amazing beach bungalow just 200 steps from the ocean! Golf Cart included to zip around the island, private fire pit, huge deck with grill, hammock, kids play ground area, nice back yard area, and new comfy furniture to relax when done at the beach!! It’s 2 streets off the ocean so no ocean view but super easy to get too!

The house is less than a mile from the main strip of folly beach with all the bars and resteraunts so it’s a fun quick 3 minute golf cart ride into town!

There is a large deck with grill and seating, swings and a hammock, cornhole boards, large fire pit, picnic table, there are two cruiser bicycles you can use, lots and lots to do here!

Good For Families and Dogs

We enjoyed this house that was close to a beach access. The golf cart was nice, and the fenced in backyard was great for our dog. We also liked the enormous dining table, big enough for our whole family. The host was nice and responsive to questions. The house smelled a little musty, which was mitigated by a few air purifying devices left running. We would be happy to stay here again.

Family/Friend Vacation

We had a great first trip to Folly Beach! The cottage was just what we needed for our family/friend vacation. It was older, but matched the islands charm. The house was just two short blocks to a less crowded section of the beach. We were just a mile away from town, which we could easily get to thanks to the golf cart at the house. There were lots of items already stocked in the house, like bikes, sand toys, chairs, and more! The yard was very nice and quiet. The front porch, which was air conditioned, was a great place to sit and relax. Would stay here again!

Listing could use an update.

This is a pretty standard beach house for a town like Folly. Great location. Super close to everything. Nothing fancy, but it was good. I don’t think anyone is expecting “luxury” from a small Folly Beach cottage. We appreciated the golf cart, the bikes, the beach chairs, etc. My biggest complaint is that this listing needs updated pictures and description. The loft area does not even look like the same house. In person the loft area is completely walled off with a TINY door and a TINY spiral staircase. No one felt comfortable even attempting to carry any bags or belongings up there. A few of the girls opted to just sleep on the couch in the living room (also not as pictured), but the girls that stayed up there said it was VERY hot with little air circulation. Overall, if the “loft” was accurately represented in the listing I wouldn’t really have much to critique. Because of this, I wouldn’t say this house is adequate for the number of guests it states it will accommodate.

Fun with the kids!

Our group consisted of 4 adults and 3 kids ages 2, 4, 6. We had so much fun! We loved the golf cart and bikes. There were a lot of beach items like chairs etc that we carted over to the beach. The backyard area was perfect for the little ones. Nice big grill. There is an enclosed outside porch and an open porch in addition to all of the outdoor seating. We had a fantastic time and look forward to returning! Side note: don't park the golf cart too close to a stop sign, you'll get a ticket. lol who knew?

Great Stay!

We enjoyed our stay on Folly! The house and yard are great for kids and pets. Great location with access to the shops and restaurants on Folly. We had a couple issues (Due to it being a little older house like others have mentioned), but Matthew and Craig were quick to respond and resolve what we needed. We have no complaints and will definitely be back. Thanks again for a great stay!

Whatever you do, DON'T STAY HERE!

While the pictures look great, do not be deceived. The pictures in this listing are from a real estate listing from April 2020, and do not reflect the current state or furnishings of the current home. When we first arrived at the property, upon opening the door, a strong stench of mold filled the air. First red flag, but we decided to open the doors and windows to let the home air out while we unpacked and settled in. Second red flag - every single window is painted shut. This is a huge safety concern, and is a code violation. As we start to load in our items and look around the property we realize that it does not look like the pictures (the stairwell is changed to the loft to a spiral staircase that is so rickety I was terrified to go up it), but I did and found a mildewy loft with an air unit that wasn't doing anything to cool the air. Plus, most of the furnishings were different than the pictures. The refrigerator was full of half eaten food and condiments, and the cabinets had half eaten food in them as well. The stove and burners looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The door to the washing machine only opened 6 inches until it hit a wall. There were beer cans and left over items from other guest under beds, in closets, and in random places. The first time we used the toilet, it wouldn't flush. Mold on walls. As we walked around, there were multiple places where the floor was so weaker and falling in that the flooring was cracking.

Great beach house

Great location, close to beach and folly restaurant’s. The house is an older house that could use a little tlc. The property manager was easily reachable and repaired the golf cart right away when we made them aware of some issues with it, it was a nice addition to be able to use it. We had adults, but would be great for families.

This was our second time staying here. We celebrated our daughters birthday with family. The owners are so easy to work with and the property is fantastic. It is loaded with everything you need.

Beach getaway/ family reunion

We loved the firepit and outdoor space. The house was close to the beach and a golf cart to shuttle us was included. Also appreciated that we were not presented with a chorelist at checkout. All around a great stay.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!

I realized I had not left a review of our stay; when I went to book again, this morning. Perfect location, perfect home, perfect everything. Our kids are grown but if you have little ones, they will be well entertained. There is a play structure in the fenced in back yard, and plenty of toys and books, in a little play area of the house. Also, you basically need to pack your clothes. This home is FULLY stocked. If you forget anything, it's there in a cabinet. There is even a docking station with cords for any make of cell phone. We are going to Charleston again April 2023. I wanted to rebook here, but it is booked up. Maybe I shouldn't leave such a good review...I'll never to be able to get another reservation, here....lol

Nice stay!

Craig and Matt made the check in process very easy with a very helpful email prior to arrival. Once we got to the house, the kids immediately loved the back yard! Lots of fun activities for adults and children alike outside! The house was well equipped with everything we needed for the beach- toys, boogie boards, chairs, an umbrella, etc. The house is a few blocks from the beach so the golf cart and bikes were very handy!! Upon arrival, the house was very hot (81 degrees downstairs and MUCH warmer upstairs). It was a very warm day outside, so I do understand it’s hard for the air to keep up. However, it took all day and night for the house to reach 75 degrees. Craig was very responsive when we addressed the issue with him, but there was not much that could be done. We went to Walmart and purchased 3 fans to help the air move. The upstairs is closed in (unlike the pictures show) and has very low ceilings. While the children in our group loved it- it was not ideal for adults. The upstairs has its own A/C unit which did help, but on the hot days it remained very hot upstairs throughout the day. Overall we had a great stay and really enjoyed the beach. This appears to be older home that could use some updates (like MANY things in Folly Beach) but was nice and well equipped! We made great memories and enjoyed a relaxing week.

Cancellation within two hours of arrival.

Never stayed owner canceled reservation within 2 hours of our arrival. My grandchildren and I were in tears. Worse experience I ever had.

Folly beach was beautiful laid back place. Fun night life and beautiful island.

The loft left a little to be desired as it was not as pictured. The property does not have a pull out couch as was also stated in the write up. The manager was very responsive and quick to handle any issues or needs we had. Would stay at this vrbo again.

The Perfect Hangout

I have stayed many places on Folly and this has been by far my favorite. The huge table was great for board games and the beds were all really comfortable, as was the couch. The backyard was a great place to hang, with a fire pit and grill. The place really is well equipped with anything you might need, from beach towels to phone chargers. It's affordable and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back!

Unsafe, poor communication

We so wanted to enjoy our stay. It’s a nice house and good location. But an incident occurred that made us feel unsafe and Matt has handled it poorly. When my wife went to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, she closed the door behind her. When she returned to the bedroom, she could not open it- the lock had somehow jammed - and I was trapped inside. We tried for 20 minutes to get it open with no luck. I tried to get out through a window but all windows were painted shut and could not be opened, which is a fire code violation. We had to call 911. Two officers came at 3:30 and tried for another 10 or so minutes to open the door and then decided they would have to break it. At the last minute they were able to get it open. I texted Matt using the VRBO app and asked for his phone number but he did not give it to me. He seemed sympathetic initially and said he’d send someone to fix the door but he never did, so we spent the rest of the week with the door opened and no privacy. It was a very upsetting experience and we have filed a complaint via VRBO. I emailed and messaged Matt multiple times and gave him my phone number but he never responded. VRBO also tried to contact him several times with no success. I would not recommend this place as a result.

We had a great stay in this surf bungalow.

Everything was as advertised and worked great for our family. It was very nice having the golf cart at our disposal because we used it everyday to go to the beach, restaurants, and to just cruise around. Matt (the owner) is great to deal with and is very responsive. I only have two comments to help improve the stay. The TV was pretty hit or miss...sometimes it worked and other times it would pause or lose picture...not sure what was going on there. Luckily we didn't have to use the loft area to sleep but due to the heat in that room...I am not sure it would have been very comfortable. It may be that we just didn't mess with the A/C unit up there enough to figure it out. Overall great stay and great little place.
