Jewel on the Galway coast
Despite the rain, we loved our stay! Front desk, porters, and door man/concierge were super helpful and informative. Our room was lovely, spacious and quiet. Spendy but worth it. Close to town, we were treated like a Lord and Lady! The sitting rooms were gorgeous, perfect to read a book or sip a warm drink by the fire. The "Abbey" was custom built for one of the original ladies of the house who was an invalid. Now it is converted into a beautiful sitting room/game room with gothic touches. My favorite space. Wait staff in the restaurants needed more training - Dinner in the Palmer Kitchen (casual option) went an extra hour as the wait staff seemed to forget us after we ordered starters, and brought us other people's dishes on two occasions, ignored our neighbors. We had to ask for the check three times. Food was good, but needs better management, at least to train newer staff on dining service. Breakfast was generous and tasty, again, waitress never brought our toast after 2 requests. That dining room was elegant. There is also fine dining in the Pullman Restaurant (converted train cars) which I'm assuming has better service. We'll try on our next visit.

Beautiful historic property that has been tastefully and carefully updated. Very clean and well maintained. The staff is superbly service oriented and friendly. The dinning options are great especially the historic pullman restaurant.

The most beautiful and idyllic property in Galway. The property is spectacularly preserved with its original grandeur with modern touches. The staff was incredible and really made our stay special. We will be back!

This is a stunning property with very professional and friendly staff. There is a beautiful perimeter walk on property, around the golf course and grounds which can include the lake (~1.2-1.5 mile circuit). The food in Palmer’s bar was fine, we liked the chicken supreme quite a bit and the wait staff, especially Derry, was wonderful. Lovely nooks like you’ll find in the lounge are perfect for reading and having tea. Breakfast was an amazing and almost decadent experience. Three downsides to be aware of: 1.) the onsite ferry did not go out the days we were there due to winds, and that was a bit disappointing. 2.) While the Pullman sounded like an idyllic experience, the very limited menu drove us to other options. 3.) The air conditioning will shut off every 15-30 minutes, potentially making for a toasty sleep (unless you can figure it out)! All in all, we would recommend it highly!

High end Stay
The place is setup around a golf course very close to Gallway downtown. It has an older vibe. We had to book two rooms and really not "family" oriented. You are better off staying in town with young kids. A lot to spend on a overnight stay. The Pullman restaurant is a nice experience. It is expensive so be prepared. The staff were all incredibly attentive and had fun drinks. The food was more about art deco. The yards are pretty. Parking was easy. The staff was great.
