A good bit of lady bugs. Not much you can do there. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious. Wouldn’t recommend walking the hill several times a day, but it’s doable. Easy parking and check in. Room was well serviced and timely every morning. Overall, good stay! Would probably book something more directly on the downtown strip next time though.
This property is older but many upgrades going on. Our room was very large with a fireplace. We lived the location on the mountain and even got some exercise walking up and down the hill to town. If you are physically limited, be prepared to drive to town and pay for parking. We had a bear in the back which was fun to watch. The cleaning staff was very accommodating. When we put the do not disturb sign up they still left a bag with towels and necessities outside our door. The one drawback was not having an office on site open. You checked in down the hill at Econo lodge. Hope they plan to open the office eventually. We would love to stay again!!
Really enjoyed staying here. We had a king room with a jacuzzi and highly enjoyed it. The view was great. You are on the side of a hill but they allow you to park at the econo lodge just below it and you can walk anywhere from there. There is also a trolly stop not far from econo lodge. You have to go down there for breakfast as the chalet doesn’t serve it up on the hill which was not a big deal for us. We will definitely be going back. As far as the big situation that was listed previously, there were a couple dead ladybugs and a couple live ones that got in. Which did not bother us at all since ladybugs bring good luck. Plus, it was just a couple and you’re gonna get that being up in the mountains. So once again not as big of a deal as it was made out in a previous post. So, if you’re looking for a place the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the stay was truly relaxing and enjoyable.
Upon arrival, there were both live and dead insects (more than 100) all over the room. Check in was inconvenient; as we arrived at the Chalet property, we found a note to go back down a steep long hill to check in at the Econo Lodge front desk, which was also where they held the included breakfast (Very inconvenient). The room's furniture and fixtures were very dated (1970's), although the bathroom was marginally updated. The staff was pleasent, but were of little help, as they spoke very little English.
The room was located way up on a hill but you hade to check in at the bottom of the hill at a different hotel. There was no mention of this until you drive up there and then there was a handwritten sign. The place was scary , no one around and it was a construction site as well. The room was crummy, The linens were mismatched, no bed skirt exposed mattress, furniture did not match, lamp was broken. It basically looked like a store room for all broken and old furniture at the hotel. There were 3 doors to the room a front door weird back door and door to a balcony, that didn’t have the door locked when we got there. Icing on the cake was a black bear seemed to be stalking our building and parking lot. We didn’t even stay there, we left and got a new room somewhere else, hotel refused a refund but I was out of there! Honestly surprised Expedia puts dumps like this on their website.
We love this place. We’ve stayed several times and will stay again in the future if it’s available next time we’re in the area, but there is a new building being built behind it and the construction crew are very inconsiderate. Twice we were blocked in where we were parked by equipment trailers and they were in no hurry to move them. The construction noise wasn’t an issue where our room was located, but would have likely been a distraction if we had not been on the lowest floor. The place is not fancy, but is always clean and reasonably maintained. We like it because it’s unique. The building, its location, and the rooms themselves make it an ideal option for us.
