We’ve stayed in many cabins and this was by far the dirtiest and most unkept. Missing lightbulbs, dust so thick you can tell it has not been cleaned for a very long time. The shower had not been cleaned (last renter’s bath products still in shower!). Holes in the walls literally stuffed with toilet paper. Speaking of TP, not one extra roll in any of the bathrooms. The hot tub was literally dangerous with missing head rest, wobbly stepstool and sharp broken pieces, not to mention it leaked horribly and none of the controls worked. The refrigerator BARELY KEPT THINGS COOL let alone cold and everything we had bought to cook later did not stay frozen in the freezer. No dish sponges/towels of any sort (used a bath washcloth for kitchen needs). No baking dishes to even use the oven and the pathetic grill was so lopsided no hotdog would have survived. Master bath/shower curtain was half hung with ripped, hodgepodge hooks (seriously, they are like a dollar, at the store, folks).
TV remotes did not work (1 tv stuck on 1 channel), not one extra blanket. Carpets were disgusting, and front door and others would not even stay closed without deadbolt.
Upon arrival, the gas fireplace pilot light was not lit with the gas valve ON! And, the FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS MISSING!! As a fireman (or for ANYONE, for that matter) that is a huge concern! And, the pilot light would not stay lit.
The worst part??? Not one time could we REACH ANYONE to help address any of the issues or ask questions. Although we were “first in the que” when we called the phone numbers, NO ONE EVER ANSWERED. We even stopped by the office at the base of the mountain to ask for TP and could not find a human.
We’ve paid LESS MONEY for much better cabins in the Smokies and are highly disappointed in The Big Moose. The owners need to actually come visit their property, clean it up, fix things, before they take other renters’ money!
