The property was spacious and even when busy was not overcrowded. Breakfast was not hot enough lukewarm as the containers in was no heated. The balcony would of fitted 2 sun-loungers in it and asked but never received, would of made it prefect as other half wanted to watch football match and did not want to go downstairs and over the road to the garden plus it shut at 8pm and the sunsets you could only see from our balcony if facing that way, which ours was. Walls were too thin and could hear the neighbours talking and every word. No soundproofing. Otherwise did want we wanted. Not the cheapest paid in May £150 a night for the 2 of us on B&B basis. Stayed at the Caletta and as it has a gym and nearby beaches probably on the same scale, but the Rock Hotel was cheaper this trip and has the sunsets rather than losing the sun by noon (if sea view room). Hotel staff very pleasant and could not fault. Bonus choice of 3 free English newspapers in garden every day.

Lovely hotel with excellent view. Clean and breakfast was good with lots of choice. Only downside is the walk up the hill to the hotel

One of the finest hotels on the Rock with a view that is just superb. Staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful. In the past the hotel has hosted many famous guests and they have the photos to prove it. What more could you want?

Hotel that hangs on the past.

Good location Have to cross main road to reach the pool. Breakfast poor.

Commanding great views to the west of Gibraltar.

Pros: It was clean, the staff were very helpful and the views from the balconies were excellent! The pool although across the road was a very pleasant area!
Cons: The restaurant for evening dining needs to improve the quality of the cooking and reduce the prices! The head barman needs to be more attentive/faster
Location: Although only 10 minutes walk downhill to the main shopping area, we caught the bus up the very steep hill. Buses are frequent and good value!
This was a first time visit to this hotel and we were only able to book a Junior Suite at short notice. This was on the expensive side for B & B compared to its Spanish equivalents! The suite was a good size with two TV's and a nice touch of a bowl of fruit to welcome us! The beds were very hard and we had to ask for mattress toppers to improve the comfort to an acceptable level! Throughout our one week stay there was a constant throbbing of a local pump station down at the nearby docks which was unpleasant if one sat on the generous balcony! In the room with all windows and doors closed it was quiet enough. The breakfast menu was comprehensive and the hot food constantly topped up, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We only eat in the main restaurant one night and were very disappointed with the standard of the cooking particularly the vegetables! The meal was very expensive and the wines were expensive and average quality!

Best Hotel in Gibraltar ???

Pros: The staff were excellent.
Cons: The quality of the rooms
Location: The hotel is situated outside of the town and not, at all, convenient to the main activities within Gibraltar itself.
The staff were excellent; the public areas were superb; the walls of the rooms were "paper thin" and for the first four nights of our stay we did not sleep because the snoring of the couple in the room next to ours was so loud, it seemed as though they were actually in our room. When I raised this with the reception staff, they said they were aware of this but until the refurbishment of all the rooms was undertaken, there was nothing that could be done about the situation. Little compensation for the interim residents ! The perception appears to be, from locals and taxi drivers, that this is the best hotel in Gibraltar. How wrong are those perceptions

Choose place to recharge

Very good place the stay . The front office staff, especially Maria were amazing. Always looking out for ways to make one feel welcomed, arranging tours and generally being nice. The place is serene and I intend to come back with my family to fully enjoy the facility

Although the hotel has been refurbished the room was still a little tired, some minor repairs and furniture a little dated Saying this did not upset our stay, all public areas very clean and tidy. Pool area is a gem, this area alone would encourage me to stay in this hotel again, a very tranquil and relaxing place to chill

We generally enjoy staying at the Rock however this time the room didn't meet previous standards. The bed creeped and moved and the wardrobe doors were defective. We only stayed 1 night and hope that these were just glitches
