The space
Staying at The Hideaway will make you feel like you are staying at a 5-star hotel but still have all the privacy and amenities of being at home.
The open floor plan allows everyone in your group to be together for morning coffee or movie nights. When it's time to settle in for the night, the bedrooms are on opposite sides of the home to ensure you get a quiet and peaceful night's sleep.
Guests rave about how well-appointed the chef's kitchen is. With its extra-large island for prepping and dining, a Samsung range with a 5-heating-element cooktop, and all the kitchen utensils and bakeware you could need, you will be sure to create many delicious meals during your stay.
Do you want a fully stocked fridge upon arrival? Ask us about add-ons you can include with your stay.
If the weather allows, take your meal outside and enjoy the fresh air while you dine at the large outdoor dining table on the upper deck or the small bistro table on the lower deck.
While outside, enjoy the well-maintained hot tub on the lower deck, or detox your tired hiking muscles in the 6-person barrel sauna, complete with an outdoor shower to cool off under (The outdoor shower is only available May through October).
If it's a rainy PNW day, snuggle in with a good book on our Cuddler, or chill on the sofa for a movie marathon with Netflix, Paramount+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBOMax, or one of the many DVDs.
Or, hang out in the NEW game room in the garage. It features a JOOLA ping pong table, 2 Samsung TVs for watching multiple sports or games, and a dart board.
There are also cards, puzzles, and many board games for hours of endless fun.
Before tucking in for the night, cozy up to a wood fire in the wood fire pit overlooking a beautiful ravine with mature pines, or, when there's a burn ban, warm yourself with either of the two gas fire tables (one in front, one in back).
If you like a mattress that hugs you, you'll get a great night's sleep on the Brooklyn Bedding King (marshmallowy-soft) mattress in the back bedroom. If you want a firmer mattress, the Tuft and Needle Queen (medium firmness) bed in the front bedroom will send you to dreamland. The Murphy bed in the front bedroom has a comfy, new Siena Memory Foam Mattress.
After you wake up refreshed from an amazing, quiet, and peaceful night's sleep, you can enjoy a cup of joe from the coffee maker, Nespresso, or French press. We also have a coffee grinder.
Then, take a bath in the soaking tub in the main bathroom or a luxurious shower in the massive two-headed shower in the ensuite bath. However you spend your time, you will be able to relax and find peace at The Hideaway at Mason Lake.
The Hideaway is conveniently located 90 minutes from SeaTac and Seattle, 2.5 hours from Portland, and 1 hour from the Olympic National Forest.

Other things to note
Are you traveling alone? Ask about our single traveler special.
EXTRAS!!
Are you celebrating a special occasion and would like a few extras? Please let us know; we can arrange an in-home massage for you.
Do you know you'll be hungry when you arrive and want something to snack on? Let us know! Your host is a certified WA state food handler and could put a charcuterie board, fruit platter, or dessert tray together for you.
Do you want to use the canoe but avoid loading it on and off your car? Let us know, and we can provide the canoe transportation to the lake and back.
Ask about the list of extras! Please get in touch with us for a price list of amenities you can add to your stay.
OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
If your pet or pets will accompany you, please make sure to register your pet/pay the pet fee. This automatically lets us know that you are bringing a pet, and then we can prepare for them before and after your stay. If you neglect to pay this fee and show up with a pet, you will be charged triple our standard pet fee.
There is enough space for seven guests. The desk in the 2nd bedroom has a Murphy bed and pulls out to sleep two on a queen mattress. There is also a twin cot with a thin mattress suitable for children under 60 lbs. The mattress can also be added to the sofa for an adult to sleep there. We recommend that guests sleep on the leather sofa with the added comfort of the cot mattress. If you plan to have a guest in your party sleep on the sofa, please let us know, and we will provide instructions on where to find the linens for the single mattress.
We only have beach swimming access along the Hood Canal at the Twanoh State Park (You will need a Discovery pass to park here). Or, you can rent small watercraft at The Alderbrook Resort and Spa, from SUP boards to pontoon boats.
The Hideaway does not include private access to Mason Lake. There is public access to Mason Lake by way of the Public Dock/Boat Launch. This area is excellent for guests who plan to bring their boats with them or use the provided canoe or kayaks. Because of the boat traffic, this area is not ideal for swimming. If you want to swim in a lake, drive to Lake Cushman. There is plenty of public access, and it's also a beautiful area for hiking.
