Front desk was not pleasant at all during check-in…..border line rude. Door to the room (912) sticks, so you have to lean into it to open it, and slam it so it will close. I actually apologized to a staff member who watched me close the door loudly, and she just simply said “yah it has been like that for awhile”.

Room was a goodsize and clean. Area was great. Very walkable. No issues with anything. Didnt have any kind of environmental system. Shower used a lot of water and towels were replaced every day even if hanged.

The rooms were spacious and the beds and couch were very comfortable. Really great to have a sitting room and a separate bedroom. The bathroom was clean and new. In fact, the whole room was very clean, as was the rest of the hotel. It is in a great location, within walking distance of the waterfront and many attractions - but you do have to walk up some steep hills to get to some of them. Luckily The Hollis is in the middle - not too high up the hill nor too low, so we were able to walk everywhere. Lots of great pubs and restaurants are near. Some construction noise in the morning, but there is construction everywhere in Halifax right now, so likely an issue for most hotels. A good white noise machine (or using a white noise app on your phone) takes care of that easily. The kitchenette is very handy, especially the fridge. It would be good to have some cutlery to use for any food brought back to the room. All in all, an excellent place to stay. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel, good location. Restaurant had good breakfasts. One day great service; one day service was abysmal. Not sure if it was the fault of our wait person or the kitchen. My instinct is the kitchen because our waitress was otherwise very good appeared embarrassed by the time it took to deliver our meal.

Lovely room. Very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the single ply toilet paper. Seems cheap for a higher end hotel. Additionally, breakfast didn’t seem to be available even though they said it was, so we ate somewhere else.

Sofa bed was unusable. Kept trying to fold itself back up. Valet parking could use a new system considering the busy street the front entrance is on. Mini kitchen could have had some bowls or plates for use to reheat food in microwave. Very surprised coffee wasn't available in the lobby until at least check out time at noon. Would have been nice to have a fresh cup of coffee while waiting for valet to bring the car. Room was very nice. King size bed was comfy. Lots of room for 3 friends to have a night to get caught up. Large windows to look around the city. Very convenient location.

The front desk staff were exceptional. Manish(Moe) was so friendly and helpful. He was the best with suggestions of where to go to eat and what to see. We will stay at this hotel again because of Moe!
