If you just need a place to sleep at and nothing else, this is a 5* hotel. The room is the best I ever had. If you want more than a sleeping place, and a full 5* hotel with proper Spa and Gym and the service with it, the Fontenay is sadly a disappointment. My experience might be heavily personal but I still think it speaks enough about the hotel in itself. We were there with my girlfriend for 5 days, and the sauna was broken the entire duration of our stay. I understand that those things can happen but the explanations we got changed from one person to another, which just made it seemed that they had not idea what was going on, and did not bother hurrying up to fix it. Their compensation was a champagne bottle that we had to send back since my girlfriend is pregnant and cannot drink alcohol. That was all the hotel did for us, and probably for the other complaining guests, so you can understand why I feel the Fontenay is not worth 5*. The gym is also too small, it is probably half the size of one of their room and is simply lacking equipment for those who want more than just running on a treadmill. It is a shame because the hotel is beautiful inside and the rooms are incredible, but it does not compensate its other weaknesses.

Dass das Frühstück war nicht inbegriffen, was wir nicht wussten. Es ist jeweils unangenehm, wenn man am Frühstücktisch "belehrt" wird.

Das Hotel ist einzigartig. Ich hatte zuvor Bedenken, da ich nicht zu den oberen Zehntausend gehöre, aber jeder wird gleich behandelt. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und frisch und hilfsbereit. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Augenblick an pudelwohl. Die Zimmer sind der Wahnsinn, die Ausstattung hochwertig. Der Wellnessbereich ist spitzenmäßig, der Pool hat eine atemberaubende Aussicht. Die Bar ist ebenfalls mega, auch da erlebt man eine Aussicht auf die Alster, die einen sprachlos macht. Das Frühstück war für meine Begriffe sehr gut, es mangelte an gar nichts. Alles in allem ist das Hotel ein Traum!

Luxus in wunderschöner Lage

Wir haben das Hotel im Rahmen einer privaten Einladung gebucht. Das Hoteli st von bemerkenswerter Architektur. Die Ankunft mit dem Auto war bequem, allerdings war von den drei Empfangstischen nur einer besetzt und auf Nachfrage hieß es, alle Mitarbeiter ( wohl im Backoffice) seien beschäftigt und in 5 Minuten käme jemand. Die wunderschöne Dachterrasse mit Blick auf die Alster war bei dem herrlichen Wetter sehr voll und der Service konnte diesen Ansturm nicht bewältigen. In der Nacht kamen wir mit dem Taxi zum Hotel und der Portier stand im Eingangsbereich und machte keinerlei Anstalten, uns aus dem Taxi zu helfen. Frühstück gibt es ,zumindest am Wochenende, bis 12. Um 11 Uhr war der Andrang so groß, das wir 20 Minuten warten mussten. Das Frühstück ist a la carte und hervorragend. Ausreichend Mitarbeiter sorgen, trotz sehr eng stehender Zweiertische, für eine entspannte Atmosphäre. Fazit : Beindruckendes Gebäude mit eleganten, hochwertigen aber etwas kühlen Zimmern und einem Service, der für den selbstgesteckten Anspruch noch etwas zulegen muss.
