PICTURE PERFECT COTTAGE

With Lake Michigan bluff frontage —Quaint Gem with woods and water.
Rustic log cabin is small and full of charm, but not posh. It is clean and scenic. We communicate everything you need to know via the app, per vrbo settings. We are not a concierge property ! (Find that in downtown harbor springs. ) Shorecabin was built in the 1950’s and represents a throwback size and charm preserved for travelers. Look at the pictures. INVISIBLE CHECK IN & Check Out for your convenience

The cabin is cleaned all summer long for our guests by long dedicated local staff. We are thankful of their efforts.

This is a mostly UNPLUGGED CABIN; WE DO NOT Have WIFI or cable. We have a DVD player and a couple local channels...and Lake Michigan:)
Head into a Harbor Springs cafe if you need to connect beyond your cell phone. Or bring Wi-Fi unit from your provider.

Shorecabin has a SPECTACULARLY Beautiful BEACH below the high bluff.
sunset view, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath-- the wood lined ceilings are open with two bedrooms.
This LAKE MICHIGAN COTTAGE is NORTH OF HARBOR SPRINGS..... a TUNNEL OF TREES GEM It’s a hike to the beach, suitable for active guests.
This is a view property for inactive guests. Beach is private, but far below cabin on a sloped path, 15 minutes to water. Some years it is all sand, other years it is rocky. There is always sand to lay on …. Lake Michigan is always changing but beautiful.

ADORABLE: Regularly adored by many travelers as a favorite cottage along this magnificent stretch of road, this storybook log cabin paints a lovely picture. Like the original Bliss log homes that align this famous route, this rustic full log retreat is a holiday delight.

The tunnel of trees runs IN FRONT of the cabin close to the bluff.

A CYCLISTS DREAM ROUTE: The narrow, curving passage of the 'M-119 Scenic Heritage Route' is celebrated for both tunneling trees and breathtaking vistas. This is where our postcard cabin sits; with amazing views high above Lake Michigan and a heavenly beach below.

BEACH & WOODS: The quaint setting offers thrilling views of yachts passing and an occasional freighter in the distance. . .far below the bluff is a very private Gorgeous beach ...behind the cabin is the tranquility of 6 wooded acres to exclusively explore. Kids and adults love to hike in the backyard acreage. Look for morels, and identify the birds, trees and flowers. . .we are covered in trillium and forget-me-knots in the spring . Do not pick the protected flowers !
This charming haven supplies a bewitching bluff setting high above the water with exciting views and shimmering beach below.
The view is a panoramic frame of Charlevoix to the south and Beaver Island to the northwest with stunning sunsets in between.

POSTCARD CABIN: This vintage log retreat was properly pegged 'Shorecabin' when it was built by the original owners in the 1950's. Settle into our 2 bedroom, 1 bath full-log bungalow with cozy screened porch and relax as the world goes by. . . Or get up and have some fun down on the beach, which is accessed by a long, gently sloping pathway. This path crosses other private coastal owners in our association so the slope remains manageable(rather than steep steps) 10-15 minutes down, 15-20 minutes back up. It is worth every step, so expect some exercise.

PRIVATE BEACH: Rest assured the beach is private to each owner's frontage. (seriously private--if you see more than 2 people in one outing, consider this a busy day of hello's)
It is unusual to see anyone else on this beach except in the distance. It is rare if anyone walks by. . enjoy the solitude. Bring your beach mats and towels.

SUNSETS: After savoring the day lazing on this clandestine 150' beach, have a cookout in the front yard (equipped with picnic table and hefty park-style charcoal BBQ) and take in sunsets that will captivate. View the big lake from a vantage point that will have you telling friends and family about this amazing slice of real estate.

ROMANTIC: Charm also lies within 'Shorecabin'. The interior is designed in a 'French Country' red style that is comfy and romantic. The screened-in porch is ideal when you don't want to let go of another day. Grab a quilt and cozy up on the cushioned glider. Listen to the sounds of the lake and woods while you watch your campfire flicker.

GREAT LOCATION-----Superbly positioned only seven miles north of downtown Harbor Springs, there is excellent shopping, boating, and golf with several fine dining restaurants in the area. Recreational activities in the immediate area include biking, hiking, golfing, wildlife viewing, and horse back riding. It is an easy drive to the ferries of Mackinaw City for a wonderful trip to Mackinac Island. The lakeside communities of Petoskey, BayView, Bay Harbor, Cross Village or the inland waterway are quick trips, too.
Warning: There is much to do, but you may find it difficult to leave this magical setting! Come explore the beach and woods of 'upnorth' soon.

The winding, scenic tunnel of trees road lies between Shorecabin & the beach. A split rail fence is your only visual divider between the yard and the lake beyond. Dogs are welcome here, and will love the woods beyond & the great lake below.

'Shorecabin' rekindles the nostalgia of a quintessential northern Michigan cabin experience.....

Atmospheric
Everything was comfortable & peaceful. The only problem, was the smell of a dead critter, like a mouse. There were several plug-ins to possibly distract from the odor. Also, we were unable to use the oven???

Loved this unique little cottage that was well-appointed, had access to a nice (but very rocky!) private beach, and met all our needs. Loved it and will be back!

Exactly what we were hoping for!
Everything we hoped for! We had a perfect stay - this is a truly lovely and rustic cabin, very comfortable and cozy. Quiet with a view of the lake and lake breezes, a nice walk to the extremely private beach which had ample sand for chairs and a beautiful long shoreline to walk and a perfect view of sunsets over Lake Michigan. Magnificent bald eagles. The cabin has a firepit that looks out over the lake for bonfires under incredible stars. Nearby restaurants, groceries, shopping and lots of pristine and very long, sandy beaches within a short drive.

Shoreline view cabin
Shoreline is more accurately a view property. The beach is a walk down the road with a sloping trail, no sand, just a large rocky beach. The screened porch & front yard give you some space to relax. If you don’t plan to spend much time @cabin the location is great. You are definitely paying the big $ for location because the cabin is small & cramped with a lot of chachke sitting around. A one time rental for us.

Classic and cute on M119
We really enjoyed this small quaint traditional cabin. While the cabin felt a little dark and could use some more inside lighting we were rarely indoors so it did not affect us. Really enjoyed the firepit, the short walk to the waterfront, and the beautiful sunsets. The kitchen accommodated our needs and coffee maker works and brews hot! The back side of the property is not managed so hiking on the property was not an option, unfortunately. Easy access into Harbor Springs and it Pond Hill Farms was a delight. We had Quick access to wilderness state park with private beaches which was a bonus. The beaches by property are all rock, which was great for exploring but hard shoes are needed. This place is a small gem and a traditional throwback cabin. Loved it on so many levels. Would be divine in the fall!

Small but clean….
We appreciate the cleanliness of the cabin! We knew it was going to be small but the bathroom and shower in particular are were super small, couldn’t even move around. It also gets very HOT without AC. We did have two mice in the cabin as well, which we caught and took care of. Location was amazing and again very clean, but a bit too rustic for us.

Cute & Secluded
Our family had a wonderful time. Not a lot of space for a family of four and no AC for humid hot weather, but the awesome beach and tunnel of trees location totally worth it. The gently sloping hill down to the beach was perfect for our cooler and wagon - better than stairs! It was also a great walk in the early morn and late evening for a quick beach visit. We ate at some great local restaurants close by and enjoyed visiting local area cities with a great view everywhere we went. Would love to see in the fall too. We will miss being there.

LOVE this place
Our family has stayed at the cabin two years in a row now and I can't say enough good things about it. Matt is a fantastic host and communication has been great, although there has been very little need to contact him about after arrival due to the fantastic condition things are kept in. It certainly takes some planning and some work to get yourself (and supplies) down to the beach but it is worth every second of the trip. With that being said for first timers, DO NOT take this trip lightly, be prepared to put in a little effort (again 100% worht it). The beach is beautiful beyond description and we have seen a grand total of three people, all in passing, in over a couple dozen trips down over the years. The most people you see are the ones stopping out front to snap a quick photo becasue the cabin is so awesome!

Fall in the trees
We really enjoyed this property. Very cozy step back in time. Appreciated the effort put into the decor. Took trips each day in all directions exploring the area. Wouldn’t want to spend too much time cooking in the small kitchen but lots of good food options around. Cool rainy weather kept us from exploring the acreage but took the walk down to the beach. Beautiful!

Michigan getaway
The property is located just north of harbor Springs, Michigan on the extremely picturesque M-119 "Tunnel of Trees" and has lakefront access to Lake Michigan by means of a short walk to a gently sloping path that takes you down the bluffs to the pebble beach and crystal clear water. On the days we were there we had the entire beach to ourselves. Behind the cabin is a wooded area that we enjoyed exploring with our dog. The cabin itself is picture postcard perfect. Despite being on the small side, it was just ideal for an autumn getaway for my wife, myself and our little hound. We particularly enjoyed hanging out on the screened in porch simply watching the world go by while enjoying leisurely breakfasts and pre- and post-dinner cocktails and beers. Despite the many positives, there was unfortunately a significant negative, which other reviewers have previously commented on. The cabin does appear to have a mouse problem, we could hear them scurrying around at night, and on our first night there they managed to eat away at some fruit we had left out on the counter top and left behind unmistakable evidence of their presence for us to find in the morning. Although that experience was a little disconcerting, we still very much enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very cute and the location is just perfect for access to Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Mackinac Island and exploring Michigan's beautiful north country.

Heaven Up North....
We had the best week in Harbor Springs... the cottage is so beautiful and the view alone is AMAZING!! We had some strong storms the end of the week and lost power for our last 2 days....but it didn't dampen our trip one bit... sitting on the enclosed porch, with that view, was all we needed. Matt was a great host...responds to questions immediately. We are already planning for next year. Thanks again Matt for a great stay!! Marcy and Scott Nicholson

The cabin was perfect for our family of four for a one week stay. It's location on the Tunnel of Trees was beautiful. There's a bit of a hike to the beach, but we took advantage of the private setting. The cabin is kept very clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed the screened in porch.

Nice area
We had a nice time. Great access to a private beach with wonderful clear water and awesome for the kids. It is a hike to get to though, down an oddly busy road then to a long sloping hill to the beach. Quick drive to Harbor Springs which was a really nice town. The cabin was well furnished, but very tight. It was quite musty/damp and full of nature’s critters. The outdoor area was nice, we used the fire pit several times.

Beautiful beach
The listing indicated that the property had 6 acres with hiking trails behind the house. What might have once been a trail was overgrown to more than 3 feet and not maintained. This was disappointing as, due to COVID, we were hoping to stay relatively isolated on the property. I also wish we would have known that there was a relatively busy road in front of the house that we needed to cross to get to the beach trail. I will say that the beach was lovely, great for swimming and we didn't see any other people until our last day. It was less than 10 minutes to the water for us, which was great. The house is cozy, for sure. It was plenty for the four of us, but it might be an improvement to get ride of some of the knick knacks and invest in some furniture that makes more sense for the space. The living room could feel much more contagious and open with some updates. Improved lighting would be nice, as well. It's very dark inside, even during the day. The area is beautiful and we found plenty of places to hike and enjoyed visiting Harbor Springs. There were no beach supplies (as the listing indicated)and weren't enough camp chairs for all of us around the fire pit when we arrived, but the owner was responsive and provided them the next morning.

Summer vacation up north
Fantastic week long getaway up north! The location was perfect as we were 15min from Harbor Springs downtown and 15min from Legs Inn. We also took an easy day trip to Mackinac Island. The beach is a 5 to 7min walk and was an amazing experience for our family and even during the busiest week of the year we had the place to ourselves! Highly recommend this location as the views of Lake Michigan are spectacular.

Loved the beach area! Cannot say enough about how beautiful the view was once you got down to the water. Cabin was small but we knew that going in. Honestly, spend most time at the water. Our dog absolutely loved it! In fact she was kinda depressed when we got home. The cabin was also a very peaceful setting. I felt totally relaxed there and truthfully would love to come back. Owners were very easy to get in touch with and we helpful! Woukd DEFINITELY stay again!

"I've arrived at paradise."
The title of this review is what I texted my companions when I pulled up to the endlessly charming Shorecabin in the late day sun on Michigan's famed Tunnel of Trees. A cozy, welcoming northern cabin decorated with warmth and character. My friends and I enjoyed the stunning view and solitude with the proximity to several area destinations. We will miss our morning coffee on the screened in porch, popping over to town for entertainment and supplies, and relaxing by the campfire. We regularly commented on what a perfect spot we found, and there was much chatter about returning. Matt and Lesley were warm, responsive owners who have provided a very special getaway. What a lovely mix of relaxation, natural beauty and fun this vacation was! I wish it never had to end.
